Introduction

Hello,

I am 41 years old and have recently been diagnosed with TN. I just had an MRI (fun) and am on Neurontin, Baclafen, and Percocet. Obviously, I am on medical leave because I cannot think straight or drive. I belive I have had TN for some time, but just chalked up the pain to cluster headaches caused by stress or sinuses. Eventually, I was struck with pain that sent me to the E.R. Wow, isn't this thing so frustrating? I am on the go constantly with my kids, friends and work. Now, I am at home "stoned" a good portion of the day. My kids and husband are getting quite frustrated with this - and it seems mostly with how it is negatively affecting them. I know it is difficult for them to understand since I don't look "sick".

I have read many of your posts so thought I should introduce myself. I am having a crappy day but your kind posts always seem to allow me to not feel so alone.

So, hello and nice to meet you!

Debbie

Deb...
thanks for introducing yourself. sorry you're feeling so badly and reasons bringing you here--
glad u found NT

I empathize - cluster and other headaches/pains- since accident 13 yrs ago inc Dx: TN (and ON, & other cervical dis)
also Migraines which i've had since child got worse. complicated by TBi (Traumatic Brain Injury) and additional concussions, head/neck injrys

i still often don't know which DX to 'blame' for these crazy head pains-- but know how devastating can be and how much does affect --life, living
wosrt ?? hardest is that on family, loved ones--

Hi Deb, I just wanted to welcome you and also say sorry you are here due to this condition. They say the side effects diminish in time, although the ones I experienced didn't. I hope you find meds that work for you without being too stoned. Take care

HI Debbie

I guess there's no need to repeat the fact that we all hate to see this monster disease claim a new victim. I'm glad you found your way here and I know you will find most helpful information and support from these fine folks. I assume you have read the stickies regarding "caring for someone with TN" - you may want to share it with your family if not already.

I will pray that you and others here will find some relief and be able to lead a normal life. My TN is a very mild case so far, and I have not taken any of the drugs you mentioned. I have only taken tegretol and only when I have an episode - which usually drugs me out for a day or two. I also know what you mean about others not understanding your disease because you don't "look" sick. My sister has suffered with RA for years and most the time she can get up and go with the best of us, but then other times she has to be carried to the bathroom.

Take care of yourself, Debbie and I will be thinking of you.

Rhonda

Welcome to Nuero talk Deb. I like the others am so sorry you are dealing with monster pain and that is what brought you here. Basset had good idea of printing or reading the stickie above about caring for one with T.N.
I hope you are able to find a drug medication combo that helps control the pain I know it takes a bit of time for body to adjust to the medication .so I pray you and your docotr will find a good med quickly and that your pain is at a lower level really soon.
You are not alone we are all here for you .If you need an ear or have any questions or wonders just ask/ post and we wil help.

Thank you all for welcoming me. I hate that you all are suffering too, but am glad there is a place we can talk together. I will probably need help learning how to live with this.

Thanks again and blessings to you all.
