Heated insoles from Hammercher.com
A friend of mine just passed along this info to me, so I thought I would do the same. Very interesting.
This information was also included: ""Unlike typical heated insoles that require clunky external battery packs and wires, these cordless insoles have embedded rechargeable batteries that deliver enough heat to keep feet at a comfortable 98. degrees F. for up to 8 hours of skiing, sledding, or snowshoeing. The wafer-thin lithium -ion cells are virtually undetectable and can be recharged up to 500 times with no creation of battery "Memory", ensuring a consistently lengthy operation with each use. ( requires eight-hour charge from included AC. recharging adapter.) The insole's six-layer design includes a shock-absorbing, ergonomic polyurethane base, while a layer of heat retaining synthetic material staves off frigid temperatures. Carrying pouch holds insoles, and lightweight recharging adapter. Plugs into AC. $100 a pair. http://www.hammacher.com/publish/75945.asp |
I'm sat in front of the TV with my feet on one of those hand warming sachets that are intended for hikers, etc.
You push a tab to activate the crystals, which then give an hour or more of heat. They have to be boiled for 10 mins before re-use. I'm not sure how often I'll use them, but they are quite comforting. :) |

Westie,
Where do you purchase those heating crystal packets? thx Quote:

I few years ago I bought HOT HANDS-2 hand warmers at Walmart for my mother-inlaw. The web address for the product is heatmax.com.
You open the outer package and shake the inner package to start the heating process. The package says "up to 10 hours of heat. The average temperature is 126-144 F (52-62 C). The contents are Iron powder, water, salt, activated charcoal and vermiculite. There are several warnings on the package. 1. Don't use if you have sensitive skin or can't feel heat. 2. Consult your physician before using if you have allergies, diabetes, frostbite, open wounds, circulatory problems or scars. "HotHands-2 Hand Warmers provide you warmth and freedom to endure cold climate situations. The product is used by professional athletes, outdoor sportsmen, spectators, skiers and those who want safe, convenient, concentrated warmth." |

As per the wise warning in the post above with anything like this you must obviously check the temperature and not just place them straight under your feet and thus risk burning, if they were too hot for any reason and your feet have lost temperature sensitivity. |
