buspar and touretts/autism
hi,
i am new to this group. I am on several groups for autism, but a new dx of touretts has me on this list. Does anyone on the list have any expierence with busbar and touretts. My son has tried many drugs, in which nothing seems to help his "vocal tics" which are so annoying and disruptive. He is currently on zyprexa and risperidal. We just introduced the buspar today. He was on so many drugs previously to try to control the tics and all have proven to be ineffective for him. We tried the klonopine, clonidine, valium, zoloft, seroquel, strattera, topomax, to name just a few.. any help with much be appreciated. thanks Angela also I am not sure how I even would read my messages here, will it go in my mail box, or do I have to log on to this site? thanks |
Hi and welcome
I have a son with Tourette Syndrome and we tried a variety of medications but found they only made things worse. He is now 19yo and has been on a natural treatment program since the end of 2001 which has really helped him I have a thread about what we did on the Tourette forum here http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread1145.html things may be different for your child tho because of the autism, but I do know other parents with autistic kids who have also seen a lot of benefits from altwernative treatments. Have you ever been to a DAN doctor? (DAN stands for Defeat Autism Now) They have a very different approach and maybe this can be beneficial for your child there is ifo and a list of doctors here: http://www.autism.com/ari/ |
