Forum: Fibromyalgia Post New Thread A warm hello to all.I have only posted a few times. So I don't want to bore anyone by repeating myself. I am recently diagnosed with Fibro, anklosing spondylitis, arthritis in several joints and cervical as well as lumber stenosis.Spondylosis, bone spurs, several disk herniations, root compression and Rls. For years I remained in the "probable M.S" status. The M.S clinic treated me with baclofen, klonopin, prozac, foltate, provigal etc...No interferons..thank God! I have a brain lesion left frontal lobe which has only grown slightly the past two years. A spinal neurosurgeon wanted to operate...doing a triple cervical fusion. When going for a second opinion regarding the surgery I was sent to a rheumy. He was able to determine my proper diagnosis.I was given requip and lyrica. The lyrica seemed promising at first. Then it made me sleepy and I gained weight....which I am already overweight.... Today I begin taking Robaxin and neurontin. And yes I still take provigal, and prozac.I also take loratab.Any input about these meds??? I have in the past tried skelaxan, nabutome, zanaflex etc....none of those helped. Thanks IZ Smilies Post Icons You may choose an icon for your message from the following list: No icon Additional Options Miscellaneous Options Automatically parse links in text Disable smilies in text Attach Files Valid file extensions: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip Thread SubscriptionNotification Type: Do not subscribe No email notification Instant email notification Daily email notification Weekly email notification Post a Poll Yes, post a poll with this thread Number of poll options: (Maximum: 100) Posting Rules You may post new threads You may post replies You may post attachments You may edit your posts -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- vB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is On HTML code is Off All times are GMT -5. Robaxin is a very good muscle relaxant and I have had success with it in the past. I am on Baclofen right now so I no longer take it. Neurontin however didn't help me one bit. I was up to 2400 mgs a day at one point. I gained 40 pounds on it and its been a struggle to even get a bit of it off. So be warned about that. Otherwise others have had success on neurontin.
Good luck with these meds and all the others you are on. |
I have been on the klonopin, prozac, neurontin and lyrica at different times. I didn't find either the neurontin or lyrica to be worth the side-effects they caused. The klonopin worked fairly well, but it made me terribly forgetful. And the prozac, well, I didn't like the way it made me think, and it caused me to have some pretty vivid bad dreams.
I sure hope that your body chemisty mixes better with these meds. Like Fiberowendy said, some people get very good results from them. Take care, and good luck! Idealist |
I have been on gabapentin for about 3 years now and luckily it has really helped with my numbness and pins and needles.. I also take mirapex for RLS (that works to) baclofen (flexeril w/ baclofen as needed), nabilone (really really great for pain, effexor (and also tramacet for the really bad pain days, it's as needed as well)
I think that it is a lot of meds to be taking at such a young age (33) but...:) they seem to help me quite well although, it did take 4 years to get a dx, then to find the "right" medications that would work for me.. I guess what I am trying to say is be patient, it may take some time to find the right mix of meds, and although the side effects do suck, if the med works; then I guess it falls to what is the lesser of 2 evils? (I only say this as I to gained weight, and am trying like heck to take it off now.) Take Care Lisa |
