Confused about Tyra

I am watching Tyra now and it is about fantasy makeovers? Where is RSD?

DianaA 12-15-2008 06:58 PM

Hi Deb,
Each of these women are selfless people. Doing and caring for others. Ashlee is a 18 year old girl with RSD and they mention it as a neurological disease. She has developed a charity for RSD by organizing concerts I think it was "Rock Out To Knock out RSD". They are getting a fantasy makeover to reward them for their good works. Ashlee does get to give a short explaination of RSD and its effect. Tyra does say RDS but one of the makeover artist get it correct. Diana

if you watch the intro video, it says she is a rock and roll survivor.

tyra plays repeats here a day or so later on a different channel. i'll see if i can record it.

Hi,

I watched it today and I was disappointed in the fact that it was a makeover instead of dealing with what these 4 women are doing with their lives.

Tyra did say RDS and that bothered me. It wasn't covered the way it should have been and I think her turning this into a makeup session made it seem less important.

Ada

By the way, Ashley did do great, it had nothing to do with her.

Curious and ada

Curious,
I dvr'd the show. I really don't know whether it is on utube or not. I do hope you get to see it. I understand what Ada was saying. The forum that it was presented in may have not been to optimal, but the fact remains that it was presented. Also, I think I would have done it just for the mention of RSD. I thought Ashlee was brave to go through with what it took to make it happen and I applaud her. Her commitment to helping RSD with her charity work is a great show of her character as well. Curious, if you find it on utube I think it would be great to post. I would love to see a show like we saw with mystery diagnosis and Zoe with RSD. Maybe next time there will be more. I am always thankful and try to look at the cup half full as much as I can.
Ada, I really do understand I have had this **** since 1989 and I wish I didn't have to explain it everytime someone asked why I have to do something and be an exception to the rule! Or why I can't do this or be here....or "you look fine to me". But, it is what it is and I just live the best life I can. Let's keep trying to "get the word out there". We will have our day. Utube now has RSD patients and we will move on from there. Ada, keep warm. It is snowing in Northern New Mexico now.
Hopefully I can see you in May when I visit the Springs! Love to you..Diana

I didn't get to watch Tyra yesterday. I really wanted to and I looked all through the TV guides and internet to see what channel it is on over here in the UK and couldn't find it anywhere so I guess it can't be on over here.

I'm sorry that you all thought it didn't go that well. It has me so mad that Tyra said "RDS" instead of "RSD", someone should have checked everything before they went on air so that they didn't make any mistakes and get people confused. It also annoys me that they didn't speak about RSD for very long, the whole purpase for Ash going on the show was to get the word out about RSD and i'm sure she would have been a little disappointed also.

Like I said though, I didn't get to watch the show so can't really comment. I have spoken to others on another forum in the US who were also disappointed with the show and felt that it could have been better.

I'm really proud of Ashley though to do all that she does and not complain - she is one amazing women!! I talk to her quite a lot and am so proud to call her my friend and could never thank her enough for getting the word out there about RSD!

Hopefully one of those days, RSD will get talked about on Ophra with Dr Oz so that would help a lot!!

the crew was told several times that she said rds and not rsd and they were supposed to re-film her sayin it right, but obiviously it didn't happen.
