Pins & needle, ants crawling feeling

Hi

I am experiencing pins & needles with a feeling of ants crawling all over my RSD areas along with the burning, this is much more frequent than before.

Anyone else experience this? If so, do you have any helpful hints on how to slow this or ease the symptoms? I can not take any of the nerve drugs, I am super sensitive to many med's. I took Lyrica a while back and swelled up, it was terrible.

Thanks for everyone's support here..I don't feel as alone with this as I use too!!:grouphug:

I get that too. Unfortunately I've not found anything yet that helps it ease up or go away. :( I just try not to keep my legs or arms in one position too long and move/walk often.

Hugs,

Karen

I was diagnosed with RSD about 6-8 months ago but the doctor who diagnosed believes I've had it for much longer but no other doctor paid much attention to my symptoms.

It feels like it's getting worse and the colder the weather the more it bothers me.

Thanks for the replies..:)

I get the pins and needles and ants crawling feeling also and absolutely hate it!! I have spoken to my PM Doctor about it and he said that it is a symptom of RSD and is sometimes caused by the nerves mis-firing. He told me that the best medication to try was Lyrica but I couldn't tolerate it that well and it didn't work for me - obviously, unfortunately you couldn't try Lyrica either because of the side effects you had .

I really hope you find something that helps you real soon and if you do, please keep us all updated. I am keeping you in my thoughts.

The neurontin i take helps alot with this feeling, and i also take tranxene for the spasms ... You have to try different things to see what works for you. It is a pain but not everything works for everyone. It is a bizarre disease. I have a problem with feeling as if i am itchy but i have no feeling in the area so scratching it does not help ... So weird. Joan

Me too

I often wondered if I was the only one and have posted on this before. I have pins and needles all the time, but I go through spells when it just about drives me crazy. Some times it is much, much worse. Neurontin and a lidocaine compound cream is what they gave me. I always feel them to some degree.
It just bugs me! LOL

i get the 'bugs crawling' feeling too......movement helps for me tho sometimes when i'm feeling lazy, i try to ignore it till i just can't stand it.....which led to a funny incident when we had some family visiting.....we were outside and i was all comfy on the porch swing when i got the 'buggy' feeling on my leg, but decided to ignore it as long as possible.....then my sis-in-law screamed 'there's an enormous spider crawling up your leg'.....and sure enough, there was.....i brushed it off and it went away, but everyone was horrified that i get this so much i can't even tell when i have a real bug on me!....welcome to the wrold of rsd!

Hi Summertime,

I'm sorry to have those symptoms, as well as all of you that responded to Summertime. I don't have those particular symptoms, but I did want to mention a drug that I feel helps me a lot. It's Lorazepam 2 mg. 3x day. It's an anti-anxiety med and it keeps me calm, as far as possible. It do have skin issues, itchy and just last week broke out in awful lesions, huge blisters and very painful. Itchy feeling is maddening and I feel this med helps a lot. I have heard others taking lidocaine cream helping. I am going to ask a compounding pharmacist if they treat RSD patients and if they have a compounding recipe for red, itchy skin. I hope you find something that helps. Do you have a compounding pharmacy in your area? We had a pharmacist come to our support group, and he was great. Take care and don't give up. Your friend to all, Loretta
