Husband of PTSD abuse survivor

Hi everyone. Nice to find some places where people can share what otherwise would seem to be very rare and lonely situations.

About 13 years ago, my wife's mother died. That event triggered emotional struggles for her stemming from childhood abuse that had been below the surface and hidden for many years. From then until now we have struggled through various phases and forms of mental illness, but are now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

She was heavily medicated a few years ago with psych meds, but is now free of psych meds after tapering off gradually over about 4 years. Not to say that meds are wrong, but in her case she was prescribed so many meds that no one could determine what was a true mental health problem and what was a side effect from the meds or their interactions. We've learned much about withdrawal from psych meds in the process.

Hoping to find other supporters who can relate to working through mental health issues with the one you love.
