Actually, it's the peppermint, which I munch on prior to any surgical stuff happening ...

Cookies with candy cane chippies?

Although not quite the same, I betcha they have some type of therapeutic value... even if it's a comfy tummy feeling :D.

A friend had told me about peppermint a few years ago. Sooo, before fast time commences and to stave-off any upset tummy feeling before surgery stuff, out comes my peppermint.

(And... I whiff lavender oil when I have a headache but can't take anything for it.)

The question is: does the germ fighting property include when you smash them on hardwood floors?

Back when I was a kid, my parents used to do our Christmas stockings and pin them to the foot of the bed after we fell asleep Christmas Eve. When we woke up, there was a stocking filled with an orange, an apple, nuts, candy, and lots of little gifts all wrapped up in pretty paper, topped off by a choccy Santa and a candy cane.

It was supposed to keep us busy for a few hours until they got up. Unfortunately, we hated candy canes. So one Christmas we had a candycane fight. 5 kids all smashing candy canes on hardwood.

My mom had cleaned and paste waxed the floors the week before. We spent Christmas Day on our knees, cleaning up every bit of the crushed candycanes, washing and paste waxing all the hardwood floors again. We never did it again, but they never put candy canes in our stockings again either!

To this day I dislike candy canes even though I love peppermint!

I used to eat peppermint when I was pregnant. It's great for keeping nausea away!

leftover candycanes are great for stirring hot cocoa and hot tea. :D

even adding one to iced tea gives a bit of sweetness and a wonderful minty taste.

i like to buy all the new fangled flavors after christmas to use this way. the fruity ones also make good ice cream topping, al crushed up.

note to self: no candycanes for rw....unless i need floors rewaxed. :p
