Increase in pain related to exercise/higher heart rate?
Hi everyone.
Along with my other TN symptoms (atypical), my pain increases as I exercise or my heart rate increases. As time has gone by I am not unable to do any "intentional exercise" without causing quite a flare up. Even going up a set of stairs gets it going now. Or even having a "lively discussion" will do it. Wondering if anyone else experiences this? How did you manage it? Thanks Cat |
Ditto!
I know exactly how you feel! I am currently trying to diet and excercise to lose weight, and when I excercise it hurts!!! It's frustrating me more than ever, and I'm not entirely sure how to go about losing weight now. I feel like giving up! (I have TN as well.)

In my case I had 2 blood vessels compressing the T nerve. Each beat of the heart will compress the nerve at each contact point. The harder your heart works or by beating faster will make the pain worse. The mylin sheath that surrounds the nerve (and every nerve in our bodies) eventually wore through in my case. It's similar to wire chafing. The insulation is cut or worn through and whatever touchs the exposed wire causes a short; hence the shocking pain strikes in my jaw in my case. So, exercising was nearly impossible for me. Hope this info helps in some way. Todd |

Well, that's how it turned out. Even though the MRI showed nothing, upon opening me up during the MVD surgery in January, that is exactly what they found. So all is fixed and everything is DUCKY! Thank you for posting. I was really doubting my pain but could directly relate it to heart rate. CAT |

I'm so glad to hear you are now pain free! It is truly wonderful to be pain free. I'm sure you suffered as I did. I've not had any pain from TN which feels like a miracle. Thank God for modern medicine and skilled doctors. All the best |

My MVD was Jan 20th. It took about 6 weeks to feel it actually worked. But I also had a lot of residual problems from all of the dental/jaw surgeries. My dentist made me a new mouthguard last week that prevents the front of my teeth from touching each other and it feels like a MIRACLE. :D So now things should settle down. My fatigue is improving and I figure another 3 months I should be 100%. Gettin' there! woo hooo! CAT |

I am so glad to hear that you guys are getting relief. I started to notice last week that my pain is worse when walking or leaning over to pick something up, but I just dismissed it. My MRI scan has also said there is no nerve compression, but it did say some vessels lay quite close to my trigeminal nerve. I am seeing my Neuro surgeon next week to discuss my treatment options, might consider surgery as have had enough of taking meds constantly . Fingers crossed it's good news:)
