Anyone heard of Peripheral Nerve Surgery?

I saw this on the news the other night and wondered if anyone here has looked into it.

I'm wondering how this is different from a sympathectomy.

From what I'm seeing in researching it, it's not a sympathectomy. It's what they do to you when you have Carpal Tunnel surgery,TOS,Brachial Plexus Injury,Meralgia Paresthetica and Ulnar Nerve Neuropathy.

They cut the nerve and then bury one end of it inside nearby muscle to keep it from growing back together again. In a sympathectomy, they cut the bundle of nerves and eventually, depending on how fast you heal, the nerves grow back again. They do not bury any nerve endings at all. That's why for us a sympathectomy isn't a good idea because often when it grows back, the pain is 10 x's worse and of course there's the spread factor.

Hugs,

Karen
