It's time once again...
...to complain about the cold and snow..
You know, people up here in the cold nort' are very proud of the fact they can survive ridiculously cold weather and deep, deep snow. I know people in Florida who take pride in riding out hurricanes, and my brother in Oklahoma who gets a thrill out of watching tornados come close to his house. Really..What's wrong with us? It hasn't gotten above zero all day. I'm looking at 8 inches of snow on my deck. More snow tonight, high tomorrow (ha) is zero..Folks up in International Falls, MN are proud of the fact they broke the record for the low temp last night, no small feat..I think the air temp was -42, don't know what the wind chill was.. I think the cold has frozen whatever's left of my brain cells. That's good, though, as once they thaw they should be as good as new..Then I can go back to complaining about the heat.. |
Here is a big blanklet to help you keep warm. Darlene:hug: |
Thanks, Darlene..I may need it. Tonight's low is supposed to be -20. Brrrr.
|
That is why I moved out of Minnesota. :p
We do get cold here in Texas, but it usually doesn't last. It's in the 30's right now, but will warm up to mid 60's. Thursday..high in the 30's, but then back up. I hide when there is a mention of tornado's. |
Minus 20! I feel downright cozy at 1 degree. Of course I could have lived very nicely without the fella that slid off the road last evening, crashing into our mailbox, taking it and a portion of our split rail fence out. And then leaving his car with flashing lights on to walk for help???
It was "fun" having the fire engines come, three police cars, and finally the owner with a huge wrecker that blocked the road for about 1/2 an hr. The snow is/was pretty before all the huge ruts. :o |
I promise I won't ever complain of this stinking heat and humidity again.
At least I can go get cool somewhere by the sea. I'm so sorry you're all so cold, and I know the cold hurts so much on our bodies too. I honestly don't think I could ever live in a cold climate after being in this heat and humidity so long. I wish I could send some warm breezes up and over for you all ... |
I've always said I like the cold weather.....but I've only experienced Georgia's cold....which is, at the coldest, in the teens and that doesn't last for long. A friend of mine once told me that I hadn't felt cold until I've spend a winter season in one of the Northern states.
Our winter here is relatively short compared to what ya'll have to endure. January - March are typically our coldest months and if we'll have snow that's usually when it happens. Although we did have a blizzard (yes, a real blizzard) on St. Patricks Day in 1992 (I think that was the year). I have pics and Kevin was about five. I cannot take the heat and it just gets worse as the years pass so I enjoy the winter months here. Can't say that I would say the same if I lived in IL or MI!! |
Kelly tell Kris how cold its gonna be down there today in GA I double dog dare ya....lol I worked in freezers for a food company and a grocery store so PFFFtttt its really no biggie, the walking outside and the nose freezes, really gets old fast though...,
Kris lets hope its the only one we get this season and its just a few more days, its the ones that last 2 weeks that get on my nerve, and yes I know its eff cold sorry a warm hug or two will it help:hug::hug::hug: those of you who hate snow you got admit it is a beautiful thing look at that siggy picture, do know how many times I have skied down that slope in my mind |
As my ds5 pointed out to me as we were waiting for the bus this am. "Its
booger-freezin weather Mama!!!!"lol:D |
We are at a balmy -8 right now, with the wind a-whippin'. The forecast is for wind chill today around -30, and also tomorrow. Tonight the actual temperature is expected to be around -25.
THINK about this, Kelly, when you say you'd like to live up here! :D Actually, the coldest I've ever been in my life was when I lived in Boston, back in the day. I was colder than I'd EVER been in Vermont and New Hampshire. That wind off the water...BRRRR! I'm headed off pretty soon to walk over to the store and post office (it's less than 1/4 mile). I have sweats, turtleneck, heavy socks, boots, gloves, turtle fur hat, scarf to put around my face, and a long quilted down coat (it's brown--think ewok). At least it's pretty much too cold to be slippery. And it doesn't usually last more than a few days. AND I could always stay in if I had to. |
