It's Thanksgiving Day in the US. Favorite PIE ?

It's Thanksgiving Day in the US.

Last year I was looking for a pecan pie. Ideally one piece because I hate to buy a pie and throw out the rest. I could go to a restaurant and order one piece but who has time for that???

This year I am wanting a sweet potato pie. And one piece will not do. I want a whole pie now. http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/jumping0032.gif

Hubby and I had our turkey and stuffing last week. But I forgot about pie.....ok, not really forgot, ....... I know that I cannot keep sweets in the house. so I don't like to bring them in.

Who has favorite pies?

I promise to make it to the gym this weekend, but I will also go find a sweet potato pie http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/tr...onvertible.gif

Hi Mari

Happy T-Day to everybody.

I'd have to say that my VERY favorite pie is one I used to get at a restaurant here. I think it was called watercress pie or something like that. I also like pecan pie and chocolate chiffon. I want to get Bizi's recipe. I forget what she calls it but it sounds heavenly.

I have never cared much for pumpkin pie but at a pot luck years ago a gal brought a pumpkin chiffon pie. OMG it was delicious. My daughter and I made it today and had enough of the insides left to eat it as pudding. That was dinner! We did good.:)

This is the first time I've cooked a real Thanksgiving meal in about 6 or 7 years and am really looking forward to it.

My daughter wants to learn how to cook and separated her first egg today!! She did two of them beautifully.

Hugs

Hi Mari and Hamster,

Mari, my favorite pie would be cocconut. I may make one today without the pie shell. I didn't really think about desert being it's just me today.

Hamster, those must be some memory making days where your daughter separated her first egg.

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL.

Hamster, I never heard of watercress pie so I looked it up: http://recipezaar.us/?m=recipes&a=view&recipe_id=1166
Did yours have cheese or tofu with the watercress? It sounds interesting.

I have good memories of cooking with my mother in the kitchen. She was a stickler for a following a recipe. I think I learned more about her than about food but I did learn about baking.

it is nice that you can cook together.

Befuddled,
OMG, coconut pie is always good. You reminded me!!
I envy you for cooking. It is a good way to nurture yourself (literally and spiritually).

I hope that you both have a good weekend. http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/happy0151.gif

Funny

Funny, my mother.

She bought a pecan pie, and said "this is what you are taking, you owe me 11 dollars."

Does Cheese Cake count as pie? I can eat an entire cheese cake all by myself. It is the one thing I cannot control my temptation for.

oh mmmmm- I want cheese cake now.

I hope you find your pie, Mari. :D

Nuttybuddy,
Your mother is a trip. :) I hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving.

Mrs. Bear,
Sure, we can call Cheese Cake pie.
I haven't had that in a while either. ;)

I think I enjoy talking about food.

Cheese cake is good.

I did something bad today and ate some chicken skin and all that grease made me nauseated. I'm not feeling as bad now as I was earlier but I'm still missing out on my neighbor's party tonight because I ate that chicken skin. I have stomach problems and should not eat like I did today.

Mari, I enjoy talking about food too. I hope you got your pie.

pecan pie/chew!!!!

My favorite!

2 each 8" vanilla wafer crust, (premade of course)

Mix the following with electric beater:

11 (2/3 cup)tablespoons of butter (melted in microwave 45 seconds)
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cup (half a bottle) of karo white corn syrup
1 cup of brown sugar, light or dark
3 eggs beaten
pour evenly between the 2 pies into the pie shells
add
2 cups chopped pecans (one cup per pie)
add the pecans and stir by hand coating the pecans

Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes

this does not make for a very "neat" pie, it falls apart but is delicious!

My favorite pie

My favorite pie is the one I can share with my cyber friends. Everyday, they make me feel good and hugged. They are the friends without faces that make up the sturdy crust, the sweet filling, and whip cream on top!
