Makeup: The Good da Bad & da Ugly

Is there a product you love? One you don't? Didn't live up to the advertising?

Let's talk makeup. :D

I have 3 daughters. Ages 28, 25 & 14. We try and have tried oodles of products. It's fun. I use coupons. Cheap entertainment. :p

The latest product that Lil'Monkey (14) and I tried was Loreal's new Double Extend mascara. The commercial shows that is it like putting false eyelash tips on. Hmmm...I thought...this would be a time saver for Lil'Monkey befre her performances.

Beyond fantastic. Wowza, long lashes. Washes off like a breeze. Yep, with just water the little "tips" come right off. We tried that. :D

It was a white product that you put on first. Then use the color. Do one eye at time. The package said that and we found it does work best. If you want super duper long, do many coats. We played around a bit.

You do need to wash the mascara off before going to bed. Lil'Monkey didn't one night. She had black spots on her pillow case.

I give a http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/im...ons/icon14.gif to Double Extend.

Velly intellesting. I have short lashes. I even went to the expense of having them professionally, ummm, lengthened. (She glued extensions on them). There's a name for this that escapes me at the moment.

You got pics of da monkey with the looong eyelashes? :)

Edit: Extensions! That was it. And I only did it for family pics. They are really annoying!

When the sleepy head gets up, we will do pictures. One without and one with. :D

I saw the commercial and ads in magazines and I wondered about that. Looks like I'll have to give it a try. I still have longer eyelashes but they seem to be thinning a bit. Does it thicken them up as well?

As for makeup - I do really, really like Bare Minerals. Yet, it is expensive $60 for the start up kit. With my dry sensitive skin, using powders can make it look worse. But with Bare Minerals it wasn't that way at all.

Months ago, I tried Avon's mineral make up and didn't like it as well. The powder was clumpy and didn't have the fine texture as well as coloring that Bare Minerals has.

Just my review . . .

I love Sheer Cover makeup. It's a powder/mineral makeup that you order. It lasts forever. I've used it for years and never had a problem with it.

Thickens pretty well, but not like the ones made thicken more than lengthen. It might tke more coats of the color. We use black.

I haven't tried Bare Minerals, but I am willing to give it a try. I sure am not happy with a multipl bottles I have now.

I did try the Loreal one. I still use the blush, probably will for the next 10 years. I swear it will never run out.

One mistake I think I made ( both my older daughters use mineral makeup) was to put it on to soon after washing my face. (after other daily goo ) That I should have let my own oils come out to "mix" with the minerals for a better coverage.

Since I have melasma ( which is fading now, but wasn't then), the coverage wasn't enough for my liking. But I will admit, I am very self conscience about it. My family says it's not noticable.

Real people reviews. I love it.

Is that the one with Liza Gibbons I thinmk her name is? The pretty blonde?

Hubby owes me BIG time. No birthday, anniversary or Christmas gifts last month. If he wants out of the dog house, he has to pony up. So I did have alterior motives for starting this. :D

Can y'all tell I'm a girly girl? :D

Good thread, Yapster!! I wear make-up every day. It's just a daily part of my life. If I'm not going out of the house tho, it's a very minimal application. I used to buy MK Mineral Power Powder foundation at $$$$$, but found Maybelline has Mineral Power Foundation as a cheaper price and it covers really well.

Also, have been using the Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew anti-puff eye roller and I can see a diff in the under eye puffiness.

Oh, and haven't tried it yet, but just bought Maybelline Stiletto Ultimate length mascara, which boasts longer lashes and is supposed to leave a shiny, patent finish to them. I'll try it later, as DH says we are going out to dinner.

Lil'Monkey wants to try the roller ball thingy. 14 with puffy morning eys. lol. Stays up studying.
