and to add to it all...

My friend took me to a school meeting, nd having git out of the car- that is a challenge - I pushed the door shut and then knew something was wrong as the pain was well I did not know whether to pass out or vomit.... well my thumb and wrist hurts like hell --completely different to the neuro pain. Overnight had ot elevated as much as able . gp sent me to A & E, unable to move thumb at all, swollen, tingling - unlike the pins and needles - and bruising around base of thumb. So I am now in plaster. See hand specialist to ascertain if break or and ligaments.....as too much bleeding and tissue damage to see x ray clearly.:eek:

Honestly I only pushed the door to, I did not crush or trap it in door. Such fun.....NOT.

Oh Helen, you poor thing!! Insult to injury. :(

You need a complete blood workup - not to scare you but to rule out.

I had a friend who's mom had lupus. She broke her ankle just putting on a boot. Could also be osteoperosis? Or maybe a hairline fracture you've had from an old injury that you tapped just right... ?

oh Hx, please keep us informed as you can. I hope someone else can type for you.

Dont worry about the email - take care of yourself, we will catch up when your all better!

It's broke!!!

Hi all....voice software here.

Scaphoid broke plus a small bone further up thumb. Plaster for 6 weeks. Consultant said injury was a fluke and a consequence of position hand and thumb in when striking the door to push it to plus the door probably stopped suddenly and there was still energy in my hand!! Discuss bone density scan when see GP.
These things are sent to try us!!!
Thanks for your best wishes.
Aches but distracting from the neuropathic pian - though I don't suggest you break a bone just for the change - if you understand me. In a nice purple resin cast. My favourite colour. Had choice of black, white, pink, purple, red, blue, yellow or green!! Asked for stripes but they only do that on full leg cast!!!

Bye for now

Hx The broken one!!!

Thanks for the update Helen, glad you have voice dictation!

I hope that it IS just a fluke of an incident. Yes, I know exactly what you mean about having something (anything) else to distract you from the TOS pain. NOT recommended to injure oneself on purpose as this opens up a whole new can of psych. problems. Last year when I threw my back out, it made me appreciate the "up time" that I do have with TOS. As long as there is some "up-time", I'm going to put off a SCM implant or bicycle chain for my cervical stuff.

Oh Helen I am so sorry to hear this. Dang how do you still have energy to make fun of your situation. I am glad that you went to the doctor, and Thank God that you did not fall on the hips...
Get the bone scan and take care of yourself as you can.
Feel better soon,

Oh NO

Hi Helen,
I can't even imagine your pain! Oh I hope you are feeling better today. I am so sad to hear of your experience. We think things are bad as they are then...wham...another reminder of our fragility. I do hope that you are not in too much more pain. What a drag!

Sending gentle hugs and much love,
Victoria:hug::hug::hug:

and now................

I am allergic to the fibre glass cast so had to have it changed to the heavy plaster one!!! on anti histamines to help with the allergy rash and topical ointment. Honestly cannot even break a bone without problems!!!:rolleyes:
