Is it safe to have electrolysis ?
Has anyone had electrolysis since their RSD diagnosis ?
My RSD is in my upper back to left arm. The proposed electrolysis site is (I'm embarrassed to say) my chin. I thought I would treat myself to facial laser hair removal with some of my back pay from SSDI, but then I found out laser doesn't work on grays, and some of my chinny chin chin hair is gray. Electrolysis is done near the surface of the skin into the hair follicle. Will RSD only spread if a major nerve is messed with ? Or is any injection/needle near tiny nerves a potential new site ? |
Hi finz!
I have MS and just got my eyebrows done w/o any problems. I sure wouldn't know about RSD, though. Maybe you could get the big bad wolf to huff and puff and blow those chinny chin-chin hairs off! |
lol.......I feel like the big bad wolf having them !

Hi finz,
I have several moles, raised and brownish left over from RSD skin rashes and lesions. I asked my Dr. if he could remove them in his new clinics for skin issues. He said he had to get a different malpractice insurance company because of the type of treatment and they excluded RSD patients with any cosmetic surgery. So that would be a NO. I was disappointed. Take care, Loretta |
I have never had electrolysis......I would be very cautious before doing so.....especially since your RSD is in the upper quadrants of your body. Consider the possible outcome......you lose the chin hairs but develop RSD in your face instead. Is it worth the risk of that???
Tweezers are a cheap option, albeit repeated as needed!! I'm so happy for you that you got your SSDI money, though!!! Treat yourself to a nice massage and facial instead!!! |
