Happy Australia Day! How did you celebrate it?

lol Thankyou! It's just beginning! (8.42am Monday, 26th)

In the past I've not really celebrated this day very much but that's a sort of political story I won't go into here. ;) I usually tend to 'reflect'. However, this year (last year in particular) great changes happened in our country and I feel this is a special year and I think I'm in the mood to celebrate with ALL Australians just what the day should be all about. Not that I didn't before, it's just that there was an element of sadness that made me a little reluctant.

The neighbours to the left of me are putting a leg of lamb (poor lambikins) on the barbeque and I'm invited. I might go for a little while, but all the people around me here seem to drink beer like it's going out of stock or something so I'll see how I go. Might stay a little while. I'd prefer to stay home and make the difficult decision of watching either the cricket (Au vs South Africa) or the tennis (Grand Slam - Australian Open). lol

My daughter's been away up north in tropical paradise with people from another country who didn't appear to be having much fun. She's returned last night on a very bumpy scary flight through rain and storms, and is glad to be back in her own home without all the complainers. Pity the complainers are her boyfriend's parents! Oh well, you can't pick 'em. She'll be around to see me today sometime.

Other than that, I'll probably just wave the flag around a little. lol

:Dancing-Chilli:

Usually would head to the beach with the other million people, but I'm shying away from people these days, especially when they come by the thousand. Pity it's raining. I love rain. It is fine by me, but it's going to spoil a lot of people's days at the beaches and parks and barbeques. That's where most of us in Queensland tend to head on this day. It's also historically a very, very, very hot and humid day. Cricket in the park. Barbeques. Swimming at the beach... all very Australia day activities in this climate.

Thanks for thinking of us here.
