MD recommendations in NYC or Long Island

My husband is looking for a new pain management doctor in NY city or Long Island. Looking for someone who is compassionate and a patient listener. Is there such an MD???

Dear Teresa,

What kind of an MD are you looking for? I work with doctors in Manhattan mostly orthopedic surgeons and Pain Management doctors. If you let me know what you are looking for maybe I can help.

Sorry Teresa,

I did not read you post correctly. I see a Pain Management Doctor out of the Hospital For Special Surgery. I have worked with him for 5 years and gotten very good results. He is a very smart, compassionate doctor and yes does listen. His name is Daniel I. Richman, Md.. You can look him up on the web site www.hss.edu. I have had a great experience with him and would not see anyone else. Once you find a good one you don't want to let go.

If there are any other questions I can help with feel free to PM me.

Good Luck,,

Gabbycakes:)

Hello to all,
I am thinking of taking a trip to Hss to get one last opinion on the injury that led to my RSD. It's only 2 -3 hours away by train from where I live. So far it's the only place I've seen that deals exclusively with ortho and rheumatology so I'm hoping they might be able to help . I've been to 10 doctors here but I don't think any of them cared if I ever walked again or not. Does anyone know the name of a good ortho doctor there that is kind and compassionate and willing to take on a difficult case. Any info would be appreciated. It's been 3 years since rsd began and I know it's a long shot but I want to give it 1 more try before I accept a life of immobility. Thank you again...Jeannie

Hi Jeannie,

What part of the body do you have your injury? Maybe I can help....I work with doctors at HSS and have been very satisfied. And, yes the do deal with difficult cases that is there specialty....I had a very difficult case and if it was not for that facility I would of never got better. Unfortunately I still have to deal with the RSD but that is even much improved due to there efforts.

Thanks gabbycakes...My injury is in my ankle consisting of torn ligaments and tendons and a healed small fracture. Do you really think anyone there would care enough to try to figure this out? It's been 3 years of endless visits to doctors that just did not want to be bothered. It's hard to imagine there are any decent doctors out there who really care...Thanks, Jeannie

Hi Jeannie,

I was kind of in the same boat. I had a serious problem with my arm saw many doctors who wouldn't even get involved but HSS did. I have RSD but I went there with the RSD and they still worked with me and got me better. I will never be 100% but I would say as far as my ortho problem I am about 90% which is great compared to how I started off with them. There web site is www.hss.edu. The doctors there are very specialized in each area. I would give it a try. I hesitated at first but I am so glad I did go.

gabbycakes..
