Just got a Judgement
I am on SSD since 2006 and when applying for SSD had to stop working and asked my auto loan company to come pick up my car in 2005. I also tried to make payment arrangements of $50.00 per month, but that was not acceptable.
Yesterday, I went to court & the judge awarded the auto company the judgement against me even though I told the judge I am on SSD. I even had all my paperwork w/me and was told they do not need to see it, just that I will have a judgement on my credit report; however, since they cannot garnish my SSD. My question is: If a person has to stop working to apply for SSD and thereby turns their vehicle in (voluntary reposession) can the State of Texas still place a judgement on the disabled persons credit report? Thanks!! |
Sadly they can. When I got hurt and couldnt work anymore I lost my cars, my ranch, credit cards, and dignity.
All went on my credit report, but I decided it only stays for 7 years or so, and SSDI income isnt really conducive to great credit anyways lol. So in another couple years my credit will be squeaky clean again, then maybe we can get a credit card. I will use it for gas purchases since I am going to be purchasing gas evey month. Then pay it off on time for 2 points per month. Heck maybe in 5 years we can have decent credit LOL. |

Thanks for this!!!
I live in Texas and just wrote Ron Paul. The judge suggested I write my Reps so let's see what happens. I think this is a travesty. It isn't like I intentionally just stopped making my car payments! Told them to come get the car and tried to work out $50 per month payments which they would not accept, now they are charging me interest and court costs, and on top of that..they sold the car to the highest bidder for $2,200, and it took them over 4 years to come after me. |
