Katherine Heigl and HUA
Who knew! Katherine Heigl is big on animal rights. :D
Quote:
One big highlight of 2008 was a store opening event in Los Angeles where proceeds from the night were given to help Hearts United for Animals in our efforts to save puppy mill dogs. The October event was hosted by Katherine Heigl, held at the opening of the Peter Alexander sleepwear store on Robertson Boulevard. Also in attendance were Nancy Heigl, Josh Kelley, Alicia Silverstone, and Mandy Moore.
Anti-puppy mill efforts are a cause dear to Katherine and her lovely mother Nancy. We cannot thank them enough for putting on such a spectacular event for the dogs. Because of their kindness and generosity we were able to save over 100 mill dogs at year-end, just as the weather turned frigid and they needed us most.
Peter Alexander, famous Australian designer and fancier of Dachshunds, announced that evening that he would be introducing a pajama line based on Katherine Heigl’s schnauzer Romeo just in time for Valentine’s Day this year and that proceeds from the sale of the pajamas will go to Hearts United for Animals. Look for information on how to order the pajamas soon!

I can't afford much, but I am a Buddy to one of HUA's furbabies. Maybe there are no-kill shelters in your area that need help. :)
