??? About Celexa

Got a big concern about Celexa. My GP put me on Celexa 20mg/day for depression but after taking it for 3 days I now wake up in a daze (I take it at night), with upset stomach and just feeling weird.
It has helped me to sleep better at night but I'm wondering if these side effects are because the dosage is too high to begin with it.
To tell you the truth, I'm looking for another doc, she was falling asleep while writing the prescription and I don't trust her.

Hi Piruka,

Sorry you've had a negative experience with your doctor. That's no fun!

If you are still taking the medicine, and suffering the same symptoms, call the doctor & ask to be put onto something else. Generally, side effects mostly disappear within a week or two. You may still need that full night of sleep, or suffer the consequences. That is normal. If you've been following directions, it's time for something else.

Best wishes!

p.s. Sorry this response is so late!

Hello

I was on Celexa for 3 years (80 mg/daily). It did nothing for my symptoms, initially it did cause some drowsiness so I took it at bedtime but soon that effect wore off and then it had the opposite effect and really compounded my severe insomnia so we ended up taking it in the mornings. But ... it never really did anything for my depression ... actually the depression gradually just kept getting worse. I'm on different meds now that seem to be helping a little more, but not much ( combination of Wellbutrin and Zoloft ).

Some people just swear by the Celexa and consider it to be some sort of wonder drug ... but, to each his own ... we're all different, different chemical make-up, different life experiences and stressors ... guess the Celexa just wasn't what I needed. Other than the effects I've mentioned ... I really didn't experience any other side-effects.

Take care, be safe & well: Kefrin
