Help!

I have two teeth, molars, on the right side of my mouth. One is on the top and the other is on the bottom. I've had them for a couple of years now, but they are starting to cause some serious pain. I really don't want to pull them, but a rootcanal seems scary. I don't even know what they do for a rootcanal, and will that help at all? I just wanted to know what the best course of action would be for my situation?

Hi Kitsuna,

First of all you have to find out what is wrong with both of the teeth. Are they decayed or broken? Do they have gum problems that would cause them to hurt?

After the diagnosis, you may be given some options. Let us know what the dentist has to say and perhaps we can help with some choices.

Well the tooth on the top broke off while I was chewing a piece of gum and over the past few years it has decayed down. There is a whole in the center of the tooth. I cannot chew food on that side of my mouth. If food gets in the whole while I'm chewing it causes severe pain. There doesnot seem to be any swelling or problem with the surrounding gums. The lower tooth broke off last year, but there is no pain as of yet. I wanted to take care of it before it is like the other tooth it also is decaying down. I have an appointment for next tuesday. I really don't want to have them pulled. The lower tooth would be all right to pull, but the upper tooth is the second molar and I would like to keep that one.
