Family History Of Melanoma Linked To Parkinson’s Disease

ScienceDaily / Feb. 16, 2009

People with a family history of melanoma may have a greater risk of developing Parkinson’s disease. The study involved nearly 157,000 people who did not have Parkinson’s disease. They were asked if their parents or siblings had been diagnosed with melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Researchers then traced their progress for a period of 14 to 20 years. During that time, 616 of the people were diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

I did!

how strange..I was diagnosed with melanoma along time ago. I had a mole that tripled in size removed from my left breast. It was diagnosed as melanoma, stage 1 thank goodness. That was way back in 1975 tho. Since then I have to be checked annually for suspicious moles and have had numerous ones removed.
In 1971 tho I was in a severe car accident in which I did hit my chin on windshield. Since then I have been plagued with all kinds of health problems, mostly orthopedic. I would think that would most likely have been the trigger for my parkinsons and everything else.
