Dehydrated ??

Hey there !!!

Im wondering...

I have been having trouble with my skin... too dry... I called my doctor and he made me stop my fluoxetine and my lyrica to test if it was a side effect...
I feel my skin a little better BUT, my hands fingers look so dry all day, like when you have spent hours under the water, so you know what I mean ? they actually hurt, like my skin is too sensitive...

I showed my mom and she told me it could be that Im dehydrated... What do you think ??? do you think that's a possibility ?? What should I do ?? drink like... more water ? I take like 6 glasses per day...

Thanks for your help !

Dry skin is a symptom of hypothyroidism. As i said to you earlier your doctor has you on 50mcg of T4 which is a joke.

Test your Free T3 and Free T4 levels and get both in high end of normal range to feel your best.

Forget about TSH it is useless.

Also are you a male or female.

If female you also need to check your estrogen levels as low estrogen will cause dry skin. Severely low estrogen will cause panic attacks and anxiety attacks. Good idea to check estrogen, progesterone and DHEA levels.

really poor skin is a sign you are not eating enough essential fats for your skin to replenish itself.

A diet high in inflammatory Omega-6 fats and low in Omega-3
will lead to skin problems.

Also low folic acid and zinc impact skin health.
Vit C is also important for the formation of collagen.

Thanks for that mrsD !

That sounded very interesting because when I drink lemon water all day, I feel much better, so, I think I will start taking vitamin C !

Also, I have been taking omega 6, so, that make senses too ! should I stop taking it, or should I start taking omega 3 ??

And, my doc told me to take zinc...

So, all the above make sense !

Thank you !

The BALANCE between the 3's and 6's is important.
Most people eat ALOT of 6's so, supplements of them are not
necessary. Soybean oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil= Omega 6
omega-3 = flax oil, walnut oil (food), canola oil(food)

It is the 3's you need. The ratio should be 1:1 or up to 1:5

omega 3: omega 6

You cannot cook with heat with flax oil, but some people mix it into cottage cheese (works really with the aminos in the cheese) or mix it into salad dressings, or buy Smart Balance peanut butter, but I don't know if you have that in Mexico.
There are flax cereals too.

I was taking flaxseed oil.... wasnt it supposed to be omega 6 ?? I was taking 2 capsules of flaxseed oil and only 1 of fish oil, which I think is omega 3 ? so I thought I was taking more omega 6...

Is smart balance a trademark ?? We have peanut butter here...

Thanks !

Flax oil has some omega-6, but it is the highest value of omega-3 you can get.

Smart Balance is a trademark in USA. Their peanut butter is the only one I know that has flax oil in it.

Other peanut butters do not. You'll have to read the labels.

Oh I see. I will look for that trademark. All the peanut butters we have (or almost all of them) come from the U.S :)

Thanks !!!!

I have such dry skin on my hands that it actually cracks. It wasn't bad when I was on fish oil a few years ago, but I haven't taken any for almost 3 years
