Driving School

Scott is at his second classroom part of the driving course he is taking. I was wondering if any of your kiddos took driving school and how they did. He hasn't been scheduled for the driving part yet. What he's doing now is the classroom part to get his permit. I'm a nervous wreck thinking about him driving. Hes so distractable....

Hi Vicky,
My two both drive now and yes, it is and probably always will be a worry. I am actually more anxious about my son on the road than my daughter. She has a better perception of her place in space than he does... if that makes sense to anyone else but me. They both did just fine with both the tests here. Similar system by the sound of it. They did a written test and then had to have so many hours under instruction and then they did the driving test on the road. I think a lot of it is just experience although getting experience on the road these days compared with when I got my driving permit is totally different. I've always been a defensive driver. i.e. aware of everything that's around me at all times. I think that's something I'll pay them to do as soon as possible... a defensive driving course.

I had to laugh at Scott when i went to get him from his class this afternoon. They had to bring $4.00 for pizza, and there was a whole pizza left so the instructor gave it to Scott. Long story short it was 2:00 i hadn't had lunch yet, so i nabbed a piece of that pizza. Scott immediately got on to me for not having "both" hands on the steering wheel. LOL... I have a feeling this is going to get interesting... LOL:rolleyes:

My son, 17, is doing the driving school now, too. He just finished the classroom part and is now doing the driving. I get those comments, too.....stop at the line and count to 2.......what is the posted speed limit here  :D ! He has his permit and drives at times, he is OK with this but I am a TERRIBLE passenger:eek: !!

The scary thing is that he is even a bit old for this. All his friends have their license already. He was so busy with school and volunteering that this is the first chance he's had. I am definitely not quite ready for this!!! I was driving at his age but definitely less traffic and crazy drivers!

You couldn't pay me enough money to be a driving instructor.....thye must have a lot of endorphins or something :) ;) !

Take care,
Tessa
