I find this distressing as it is my belief that too many things already being treating as "psychiatric" or "psychological" are in fact a medical problem. Already, psychiatrists run too few tests to diagnose and to monitor effects of medications on the body.
What is the likelihood that PSYCHOLOGISTS - with NO medical background (and often with psychological problems of their own) - will order tests to even monitor the medical health of the patients taking these drugs? |

Medical doctors can't even monitor and prescribe safely these days..how is a psychologist to do it? Hyponatremia, platelet effects, drug interactions, induced blood sugar changes, serotonin syndrome, osteoporosis, etc etc? |
Jasper,
I think you may need to educate yourself in the roles of both the psychiatrist and psychologist. Also, I would like to know where u get your information: "PSYCHOLOGISTS OFTEN HAVE PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF THEIR OWN".???? I could go further, but I am restraining myself. Quote:
