Any new mood stabilizers yet?

Does anyone know of any new mood stabilizers out on the market.
Lamictal has been around for many years and I have not heard of any other new ones yet.
Have any of you?

Hi,

Old heart meds are being used:
1. Calcium channel blockers (verapamil)
2. another group that I can't remember now.

Also, Dr. El-Mallakh has done a study showing that the ketogenic diet can work.

from wiki:

The diet has just enough protein for body growth and repair, and sufficient calories to maintain the correct weight for age and height. The "classic" ketogenic diet contains a 4:1 ratio by weight of fat to combined protein and carbohydrate. This is achieved by eliminating foods high in carbohydrates (starchy fruits and vegetables, bread, pasta, grains and sugar) while increasing the consumption of foods high in fat (cream and butter).[1]
I like lots of cream and butter!:D
lol
I once lost a lot of weight following this kind of diet,
right now I wish I had the discipline for follow thru.
I have put on a few too many pounds this year, my clothes are feeling way too tight....

I believe that Lyrica is on the track to get FDA approval for
anxiety. It has already been approved for anxiety use in Europe in 2006.

If it makes it through our FDA here for anxiety, I think you
will see its use in bipolar patients, borderline patients, and GAD
patients.

Its cousin Neurontin was tried for bipolar off label, and did not
work. It will be interesting to see if Lyrica which is chemically related makes the grade.

I have been taking Lyrica for about 3 years and it does absolutely nothing for my anxiety... BUT... It may help someone else.... I have Bipolar 1 with severe anxiety....

There is also a new antidepressant (targeting Fibro mostly)
which may help others:

Savella. It is a mixed type, norepi and SSRI reuptake inhibitor, with more norepi actions than others in US.

They have a website, so do a Google.
