brain aneurysm and ied

my husband has been in the military for 20yrs, he's been to war three times, his last war was 07 thru 08, in late 07 he was involved in an IED incident, the passenger on his truck had a concusion and my husband said he was ok, my question is, does anyone know whether or not an IED blast can contribute to a brain aneurysm?

Hi seansharong, and welcome to NeuroTalk! :Wave-Hello: This is a great place to hang out with many forums to look through, and with lots of nice and helpful people here. :)

I don't know what an IED is, but here is a link to the Aneurysm forum that may at least get you started.

Hi, SS! I'm happy to meet you! I'm not sure if an IED (improvised explosive device) can lead to an aneurysm, but I have seen studies which showed that they can exascerbate an already-existing aneurysm. The pressure and vibration can cause a tear or a rupture. But if that had happened, then the sypmtoms would have shown up pretty quickly. Good luck and best wishes to you and your husband, SS! And thank him for me. :)
