AUSTRALIA PHONE LINES (+61)
List here was valid, 2021. Later changes are uncertain. Australia, like Canada, is "socialist", like Canada & the European nations. Not like the communist nations, nor the USA.
In Australia, our help lines are government registered, & directly , indirectly founded by government, and possibly other fund raising efforts.
The lists below are paid staff members, 24-7, unless otherwise stated. Lists are in order of usage, interest, popularity, to the more specialized lower in the lists. All have "brief" counseling, with calls legally recorded & traceable. Some agencies also keep computer records on the call & caller as well. Brief counseling can usually deal with the one presenting issue, in one brief session. Deeper or multiple issues will need multiple sessions (less than 20 minutes). With similar agencies, if needed, but one same agency, per day. If there is a long waiting list, generally there is no notification of this long wait.
All agencies check that suicide is being planned that day, or not.

LIFELINE. 13 11 14. Internally trained volunteers.
BEYOND BLUE. 1300 22 46 36. Told of placement in the waiting list. Depression focus.
MENS LINE. 1300 789 978
SUICIDE CALL BACK SERVICE. 1300 659 467.
SANE AUSTRALIA. 1800 187 263. 10 am to 10 pm
KIDS HELPLINE. 1800 55 1800. Aged 5 to 25.
1800 RESPECT. 1800 737 732. Violence (family, domestic, sexual)
HEALTH DIRECT. 1800 022 222. Quickly assess whether medical referral is needed.

May other government, religious & charity agencies claim also to have phone services. Many agencies might also have other internet services. Most have referral lists. All have routines for dealing with troublesome or fake callers. Only one claims to use a language interpreter, if needed. However, not sure if that is OK.
