Weekly Check-In March 8-14, 2009

Hello Everyone..Its been a hang around week for the most part waiting for the snow to melt..Hanging around is not good for me, as Ive been in and out of more depression than Id like to think about..Too much crap on my mind..But it got up to 60 degrees today, and 90% of the snow is gone, and that is just fine with me

I talked to my outboard mechanic about rebuilding my outboard, and he doesnt think its worth it, because he says with an older motor, you rebuild it, and then the lower unit or some other thing lets go..He said he would have some good used Yamahas, with low hours in the middle of the week, but I cant afford to really do that right now..I could, but it wouldnt be a wise move right now, so my alternative plan is to put the 50 horse that Ive got in the garage on there, cuz that wont cost me but my time and aggrivation, and hope it doesnt give me any aggrivation..Other than that, I hung a set of clamming tongs for a friend the other day

That about sums up my week..How was your week?

It was 70' here. There is just a little pile of snow left at the end of the driveway- hard to believe we had one of the biggest snowfalls of the season less than a week ago. I cleared leaves out of the garden and can now see the bulbs coming up.

The bad news is that my husband lost his job on Friday. Officially he retires March 23 after 27 1/2 years with his company, but it is an involuntary retirement as he isn't ready to retire. He can't get social security for 6 more years, so he will need another job, which will be hard to find in this economy at his age. We will need to sell our house and downsize sooner than planned-also not a good time to sell a house. He has severance pay and vacation pay to get us through the next year, but he loses his company car and laptop right away. He plans to buy a laptop first since I monopolize this computer. We might manage with one car for a while since I work from home. The good news is that since he is retiring, he keeps his medical insurance and we just pay the same as we have been paying.

Yesterday was his birthday and he was glum all day. Then my daughter came over for dinner and when he opened his present he was happy- I got him a Wii and the kids chipped in for an extra game package. I thought he would like it, but didn't know how much he wanted one. Now that he lost his job, I am really glad I got it for him.
