Vit D Gel Cap?
My doctor said he wants me to take vitamin D in a gel cap???? I never heard of that. Why? He said more absorbable. Is that true? I don't recall seeing a gelcap of Vitamin D at the store.

I would guess that the absorption factor would have to do with the liquid form of D and in general, gel caps dissolve pretty quickly. I'm sure that mrsD can speak better to this.
I buy D3 (I'm assuming/hoping that's the type of D your doctor wants you to take!) from Jarrow (they're small gel caps). It's available in most health food stores and you can find it online as well. |
Vitamin D is oil soluble.
The Rx version is a gel cap. (D2) Recently I have seen more supplement makers provide it in a gel cap as well. D3 I think it is better absorbed this way. I use a gel cap by NOW in fact. For example... Aleve just came out with a gelcap version. I find the OTC 220mg gelcap faster acting and lasting longer for me than the RX version which is 500mg tablet. |
