Shuttle docking with ISS now
Turn on NASA TV. They are right below the ISS, good view!

Dang... missed the launch and now the docking....
sigh....:thud::thud: Hopefully I can catch the landing....  Abbie |
It was cool! It took a long time to dock and then they had to do a lot of stuff to seal it and equalize pressure and leak tests and all that. All in all it took a LONG time!
It was funny to watch the crew on the ISS, you could tell they were all excited that company was coming! I expected the crew from the shuttle to come out in their orange flight suits. They all came out in civvies, some of them even had on ball caps and they weren't NASA caps! The crew of the ISS rang the ship's bell when the crew from the shuttle entered, nice tradition. The crew from the ISS were all in official ISS gear. It was interesting to hear them talking to John Phillips (mission spec. on several flights), talked a little about how much bigger the station is from last time he was there. (can anyone tell I have too much time on my hands these days?) |
I was watching the two crews chatting earlier... it was kinda cool watching them float around...
the poor female up there... her hair is long and stands out like she's been electrocuted!!!!! |
I am not sure if you can see it yet tonight, but last night (3-17) you could see them docked with the space station. Very bright in the east. southeastern to southern sky.
