Question

Hello friends,I have a question.I am wondering if the diagnosis of rhomboid and trapezius regional muscular pain also is a term for rsd?Any comments,I'd be glad to hear from you.

No. I don't even know if that is a real diagnosis, other than describing "the where" and "what type" of pain you have.

You may be thinking of "complex regional pain syndrome" (two types) aka RSD, and this is definitely not "rhomboid and trapezius regional muscular pain".

More than likely your doc is describing a myofascial type of pain pattern, and this by no means identifies the cause and really isn't much to go on, other than inferring cause by where the pain is centered, and tracking back by pain referral patterns (see dermatomes).

Best of luck.

Ditto Anonymous- This is just telling where the pain is located and what muscle groups are involved.

Hairdresser we do have an RSD forum and there are some RSD links in the list in our stickys too.
If you'd like to read more about it.

pain

hairdresser,
I get trigger point injections into these area. The one on the rhemboid they cannot get too low to as it can hit the lung. But about 5-6 spots.

But, it was realted by my neurolgist and several TOS doctors as where the nerve inserts into the muscle. The nerve is inflamed and the muscle makes a splint to protect it.
With trigger points, the doctors uses a marcaine and a novacaine type medication into the triggers. My medications are topomax, for the nerve pain, and valium 5 mg to 10 mg in a flare as needed for spasms.
Toradol for flares.

As a previous haridress in my former life I know the spot you mean. When you lift your arms , under the wings and coming around the front to the armpits.

Do you also get the one from the wing up into the base of the skull like a knot in the base of the skull?
That one triggers my cervogenic headaches.
I find keeping a pain diary and taking it to the doctors, every one, keeps my spymotms and complaints identified to them.
Hope you find relief.
Di

Folding clothes, hanging up decorations, rolling out dough are flaring me.
