New glasses
I picked up my glasses and I like the look of them; but the new prescription is nutty. I can't see the computer screen with the upper OR lower lenses. I had planned to switch off wearing both pairs but not because one didn't work! Don't know whether to question the opthamologist or rhe new folks who developed the lenses!

Did you get your prescription from the same place? Or from a different opthamologist? From my own experience and seeing what was happening to other people when buying glasses!!!... it depends on the lab they go to and there is absolutely NO reason you should not be able to put on those glasses and see perfectly normal! The first pair of glasses I bought from Sears optical and OMG. I could see out of one spot in the glasses if I tilted my head. I took them to my doctor and when she tested them she was appalled at how poorly they were made. There's no excuse. If your prescription is correct, then the lenses should work fine and don't accept any excuse like...."Well, you'll get used to them." Bull. I took those glasses back to Sears and demanded my money back. Was hesitant to go to another place but I did and when I got the new glasses I was shocked! I couldn't even tell I had them on the vision was so perfect. Hate it when I hear vision places tell people "Oh that's just how it is, you'll get used to it. Whew, now that I've gotten all hissy about that!...LOL I hope you can get some satisfaction! |
Barb, did they fit the glasses on you when you picked them up?
Sometimes they have to be tilted to get the vision field correct. My very first glasses...I threw up everytime I wore them. After 3 days of not knowing any better...I tookthem back and they fixed them. Also..sadly, there might be an error and the RX could be messed up. |
And are these progressives or regular bifocals??

*giggling here because of this reminding me of Bill Cosby's "49". Rent it if you haven't seen it.....

Yes, Barb!!! No lines are progressive. When going through my glasses fiasco, I saw so many people there at the same time as me who had just gotten new glasses. And heard over and over..."Oh it takes people time to adjust." B A L O N E Y! Not if they are done properly!
Yes, ask your doctor to check out the glasses. That's what I did and she was appalled. She also said she saw that a lot from people who had bought their glasses at Sears optical. What is really strange is I ended up taking chances with the optical store at a Hy-Vee food store here. I had a really great person help me with them as well, fitting and all. I've gotten 3 pair from them and every single one has been perfection. As Ms. Curious said, yes a fitting can make a huge difference as well. But some of those optical stores, that you see ads for a lot, send their's to big labs that can or can't be very good. |
