Exercising ??

How do you exercise when it is hard to walk, and little energy? I try to do it in the mornings, walking is about all I can do and it is getting harder. I have SPMS and diagnosed 13 years ago. I am 62 and try to keep my heart rate up and muscles in fair condition. I can't just sit and watch TV, always been busy but I just can't do it anymore. I don't have my strenght anymore, lost it with the first major attack which left me with partial paralysis. What do you do for exercising?

I use 3 lb wights and do some arm exercises every other day and do 5 minutes on my stationary bike when I'm feeling particularly spry (& fat) and can actually climb on - don't walk too much - keep tripping and stepping on my own feet - otherwise do what I can ie: grocery shopping and walking across the street to mailbox !! Then maybe nap - do take baclofen when I remember to try and keep my ankles from stiffening which they tend to do late afternoon/evening -

I do some PT when on the floor after using a chi-machine 3 x wk. I do some walking and light water aerobics in pool when possible couple times a week. When I'm in AZ in RV park I ride a 3-wheel bike few times a week; when in CO I ride an indoor stationary bike. I do these for 20 min. I have always done some form of excercise-if only the chi-machine for all the 20yrs of dx depending on disability at the time therefore, keeping muscle even tho I have little use of R leg due to foot drop and leg dragging.

Being on Tysabri and Fampridine SR (trial) has helped my disablity slow/reverse/halt! and I'm sure all the excercise has helped me do so well on these meds.

Best wishes,
Linda
