Epilepsy and artificial sweetners

I have read several posts on this site that says to stay
away from nutri-sweet and diet sodas. My husband has
epilepsy and we use sweet n low in our iced tea. Is it all
artificial sweetner or just nutri-sweet?

Hi Karen,
I would stay away from all artifical sweetners. It's the chemcial aspartame that is put in many of these sweetners that cause more electrical activity in the brain and can lead to sz. for many people. My Epi told me to stay away from all of the artifical sweetners because they can cause sz. for many people. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!

Sue,

Thanks for the info. We had been off artificial sweetners since the 10th of March and I do think it's helping.

Aspertame doesn't bother all ppl with epilepsy, but it might bother you. So why not stay away from it
