Adverse reactions to coil embolization

Hello All,
I have been involved in the Peripheral Neuropathy and Myasthenia Gravis forums, but this is my first post here.

I had an unruptured, 4mm, wide necked aneurysm in the central coratoid artery coiled with platinum coils and a stint on January 28, 2009.

Woke from the procedure with a blind spot in the R eye, which has baffled my opthalmologist - not brain stroke, glaucoma, retinal issues ....

Also went into a flare on my MG, and now am experiencing a rather fast progression of neuro symptoms related to polyneuropathy which was existing previously, though not diagnosed - current neuro indicated the polyneuropathy and it looks as though CIDP is probable though not confirmed yet.

Has ANYONE experienced any abnormal adverse reactions that might indicate a sensitivity to platinum toxicity? I found that the chemo therapy with platinum is contraindicated for those with CIDP, but can't find any specific contraindiction for the platinum coils.

Thanks for your time/responses.

Becky

Hi,
I'm not sure if I have a problem that is related to what u are speaking about, but here is my story :) I had an unruptured annie in the cartoid cavernous region. It was a heart shaped bubble and they thought they were going to have to use a stint, but luckily did not.
Ever since the coiling I have had issues with facial twitching ( so slight only I know it is happening) This is occuring mainly in my lip, so I look like Elvis :).
I have almost a consitant numbness and tingling in my upper lip, face and jaw. My eye also feels like it is drooping, though it doesn't appear as though it is.
I had slight tingling in my nose every so often before coiling. Since coiling it never goes away.
My vision is blurryer then before (I wear glasses) and also I know have numbness and tingling in my feet and toes. I am also having memory loss.
I have seen a cardiologist thinking it was from the angiogram and the star clousers that were used. That has been ruled out.
The cardiologist felt that when they coiled the annie they may have cut off blood supply in a small capillary and it is causing my symptoms. Another neuro I saw has no clue what is going on.

Being trained in engineering I do know that some people are occasionally allergic to certain metals.
