Advice need *s*.
ok, iv got (ms) altho everyone knows that right *s*, anyways im in the need, for, a little help, actully a lot (heh)...
ok, the thing is, my healthy eating ways are way on the map, cause, im a junk holic (lol) trusted me ask (taffy) shell tell u *s*... i was wondering if everyone, or, anyone could help me start changing my eating compeletly, well, not help me, altho, maybe give me on advice on how to draw myself away, from, junk junk junk (lol) & anyways whatever advice you got, id be glad to hear everyone. p.s.im pretty good at the eating heathly, thanks, to my mum *s*, its the soda i can not get away from & i want too...thanks again everyone. |
As with most things, its a habit. if you remove it from the house, and replace it with a new habit, like water, that will become your new habit.
I have worked hard over the years to not eat anything pre processed, or full of chemicals. We eat cakes or cookies, but its homemade stuff from scratch. No high fructose corn syrup on my plate. it was work, but oh so worth it. good luck. |
yep. the first thing i did when i decided to change was DECIDE. then i cleared out all the bad stuff from my fridge and pantry. then i went shopping and stocked up on better stuff.
with the soda's you might try to drink 1 less can per wk or something you pick. kind of wean yourself off. another major point is to set a do-able goal. then the progress will build upon itself. one thing i do to reward myself is put stickers on my calendar. but, i do that for walking everyday. |
Removal is your best defense, as others have mentioned here. Or substitution (water instead of soda, etc).
I eat a low fat no red meat diet. I DO have a cheat day, on average once every month, but even then I regret that 1 cheat day, because once you get yourself into healthier eating, you'll find going back to the old way that your body doesn't like it very much :) On the thought of drinks... how about herbal tea? I LOVE the Tetley Vanilla and Peppermint. Mmm. And it's tastier than water! That's if you can tolerate warm drinks of course :) |
DD is 17, much bigger than me (last time we shared shoes she was in 2nd grade) and 40-50 pounds overweight. I think life-style change like walking (she does nothing physical except pick me up on occasion) and being aware of how body works along with Dad changing foods he makes(he makes "man" food, fried, butter, red meat, heavy on sour cream sauce,)Mayo on sandwiches)
Not going on a diet, but making life changes. She has a prom to go to, n see her body through the ruched fabric and empire waist) I am not going to become Mom Diet Cop, but participate in all our need for different eating and walking some to start for some exercise. A child of the times (in a school that hast gym one mandatory semester in 4 years.)computer, TV, cell phone texting, driving every where.etc ) she leads a sedantary life. Water, not diet soda, which I believe makes thing worse by putting body in Starvation mode, fwels like it must keep all those fat calories. Worked for earlier mankind who had much less, but modern man, no. |
Hey Brat, that's a tough one. I have changed my eating habits back and forth, so many times, it's shameful. Except for having MS, it has made little difference in my health...(It's good)
The only thing I id notice is, that I felt better and was able to keep my weight down, if I cut out all saturated fat from my diet. I have pretty much stuck to that and I think it has paid off, as my Doc tells me I am healthy......a little/lot overweight now, but that does not worry Doc. My one weakness is choc chip cookies, which I refuse to give up, so I drink an Active, cholestorel lowering, "sure shot" drink, every other day and that has kept my bad cholestorel down. Good luck to you in your efforts. |
This is what I did. I stopped drinking sweet tea and changed to Crystal Light green tea with raspberry. Then I stopped eating sugar stuff everyday. It sure does catch up to you if you keep eating it on a daily basis. lol I now have one day a week I am allowed to eat cookies, ice cream, cake, whatever I want.
I am not a big exerciser so I probably could lose more if I was. I lost ten pounds just giving up the sweet tea and sugar all week. Friday nights are "eat out" nights in our home. The rest of the week is home cooking. Vacations are freebie, weekend trips are freebie. If your at home, no freebie until your treat day. It gives you something to look forward to. Good luck to you! PS: The only thing that bothers me is hubby who is the one with ms lost 33 pounds since we started. I only lost ten so far but I am at my ideal weight so I am OK for the most part with it. I tell him he had more to lose. haha |
You are asking Taffy how to stop drinking soda?
.......:Scratch-Head:....pause..... :ROTFLMAO: Fine. It is hard, isn't it? I limit myself to one a week. I have to search for it. In other words, it is not in the house. I have to buy it at work at the vending machine, which I have to remember to bring change for. While I was on vacation I found lots of vending machines!:D I had lots of change. So I had Pepsi everyday.:D Now I am paying for it with withdrawal headaches! You can do it Brat! Water with a twist of lemon in a pretty glass is better for you anyways. Soda is not good for you. It sucks the life out of your bones. |
Omg!Omg!Omg!...(Taffy) your back, I am so excited *s*, Iv been behaving myself, no worries their heh.
Ooo yeah, Im trying to change my (soda) habit around, at last, ehh yeah its too bad the things is life that taste so good are so bad for us too .
