Who has cut their working hours?

Question's in the title... who can't manage full time work anymore? Or who doesn't have to thanks to family or OH support?

Do you feel a 'fraud' on your good days and think to yourself, yeah, I could be working today!? Or are you happy to take a step back?

I'm on SSDI.....and it was quite an adjustment for me to go from working close to 60 hours a week to being at home fulltime. At first, whenever I'd have a "good" day I'd feel sort of guilty.....kind of like I should be doing something, just not sure what. But, I got over that real quick as I pay dearly for anything I do that out of my normal routine. Just a trip to the grocery wipes me out for the rest of the day. :(

At this point, I'm happy to take a step back.

I went from working full time to a big exacerbation that took me off work. But I do know that you have to seriously consider cutting back to part time. Your SSD earnings will be based on your earnings at your quiting time.

I went from working 16 hours a day in a major prison, doing the hussle every minute of the day to SSDI. I had been feeling crappy, and shakey, and droppin things. Back spasms, and numbness with a dragging leg and foot drop. I LOVED my job! I fell during a riot, and fx L4/L5. The prison sent me home, granted me my SSDI and gave me a disability retirement. It was a HARD adjustement. I used to id myself by my job. it filled every moment of everyday, and then...I had to figure out a new life.

On good days, I get out there, shop, walk, cook, clean, enjoy the day! cause on bad days, I am riding the couch, and catching up on the Tivo programs. You will learn to balance. Take advantage of those good days, and take care of business. You will also learn to not feel so gulity about bad days, and needing help to get through them too. DONT spend all of your good day energy, you can quickly exhaust yourself into a bad day by going full tilt boogie.
