Have had severe muscle pain, stiffness, cramping for over 2 years. Now have tremor in right leg and right hand. Most of the symptoms on the right side. Some head tremor at night. Stops with sleep. Very ataxic gait, especially worsening during the day. Movements become slower and slower as the day goes on. Muscles in legs feel as if they will not relax. Evaluated by 5 neurologists. All have different diagnosis. Last one was Conversion Disorder. WHAT? I am a registered nurse. In nursing for 32 years. I think I know these symptoms are real and indicate a real problem. I would like to know more about dystonia. The ones who have this are the best to give advice and guidance. I do not know what to do next. I am sick of doctors and their superior attitudes and judgments. Many more symptoms too numerous to list. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I know how frustrated you must feel. Being a nurse all that time and still having difficulty getting the specialists to take you seriously is especially disturbing!

Without a lot more information it's really difficult to say much, but I just posted some information on the "is it in my head" post here about nicotine and caffein's affect on EMG's that the neuros don't seem to think matter for peripheral nerve testing that I am actual proof that they do!

Unfortunately they are just not as smart as they think (or would like us to think) and I bet having paid all that money for school, and putting in all that time in school, that's a hard thing for them to admit! I have several examples of things that I instinctively knew before any studies were done and the med community finally caught up on years later.

The second is very comprehensive and a little intimidating, but once you figure out how you can use it, it is helpful. Everything is arranged alpha, so if you try clicking on a condition name, it gives a lot of info re: presentation, tests, etc. If you click on a symptom, I think it gives you a list of various possible dx's. Play with it a bit and see what you think.

If you want to post your history, sx's, tests done, and results, and it's very long you can put it into a word document or something similar then copy it onto a post. That's what I had to do when the MS forum people asked me for my info. That might make it easier for someone to give valid suggestions to you.
