Hey gardengrl! I've seen that email before and I remember when my DS *who is legally blind* was younger and had a vision therapist working w/him. W/magnifying tools etc, she taught him to read script looking at the first and last letter of the word along w/the shape of the words. At the time, I thought it strange, but it works.

He graduated his Jr year and at the top of his class b/c he didn't want to use Braille. So, hope you can all read my typo's here. Thanks for sharing.

It's the same kind of mind power used by musicians when reading a complicated score. Our minds are so remarkable (DM's notwithstanding), what an amazing thing is the human brain!

Just try some time to enumerate all the different items you have memorized in your lifetime!

My brain damage is in the form of legions of lesions from MS. It hasn't really caused me too much trouble yet, mostly just stalled vocabulary and lack of concentration. So far, I'm able to overcome it but if you ever hear your phone ring at 4:00am, it's me calling to tell you that I remembered the word or name I was searching for. ;)

I didn't have trouble reading it. I can only guess that the way that the letters are presented our brains use different areas to actually interpret and understand it. Does that sound logical?:p

I don't now, I can't understand how I can Screw up a sentence that's correct,.. but get something so Screwed up right? lol

It seems all you need the 1st letter, to glance at the letters & to notice about how long or short the word is.....and I guess, to have seen it before (if you live in a city that I never heard of & you scrambled up the letters, how would I know the real name?).
