I didnt know MRI machines weighed that much!
Just found this story on one of the local tv station websites. (well, not quite "local" for me...I'm in Omaha, Lincoln is about 50 miles from me)

The med center that I use has a new 3T MRI machine. When the old 1.5 T was removed it was loaded onto a flatbed and walls were built around it. It had a parking restricted zone around it because of the magnet. It was used until the new one was installed.
They had to build a new room for the 3T machine. They left a wall down to get it in the room. They had to build a double wall around the whole room, and when they fired up the machine, they moved the flatbed that the old one was on to the other side of the building. They reported that the magnet on the new one was so powerful that if the old one was left where it was parked, the new magnet could pull the old one right through the wall! |
6 Tons, Wow!
