Electical shocks, any ideals,

I have started having electrical shocks all through my body. It's only happened a few times so far but they are there. I notice them at night while I am in bed. My Dr. asked me if I noticed them in the daytime but I'm thinking, being up moving around I might not notice them so I don't know. I don't have pain, it's just the shocks all through me.

Good news, I lost 5 lbs in 6 days. My Gastro put me on a new med that speeds up my metabolism and it's working.

Any ideals on the shocks. I had a few thoughts but not sure.

Thanks,
Ada

Another one of the Holy Cow make it stop rsd things. The only relief I got was when I took lyrica. It took it down a lot and when I did feel it, it was less intense/duller. Like sweating, this is one that has no solution. It would be nice if it could be helped with heat or more pillows. LOL Sorry you're feeling the electrocution thing. It totally sucks and you're not alone.

Hugs,

Karen

For some reason I also notice it more at night, when I am quiet and trying to relax. Of course that will totally wake me up.

During the day, I will get this sometime if I am sitting in one position at my desk or in a meeting. I really believe it has something to do with activity or lack of activity.

Thanks,

Mine seems to come at night in bed also.

I did just have it in my legs but now it has went to my whole body.

Karen, I quit sweating after I went off of my Methadone. The meds sometime causes the sweating. I sure can't handle heat though. I was a mess yesterday. It got warm here and I had to lay around all day. My CFS is so much worse in the summertime.

Thanks for the help.

I am sorry you're getting the shocks. I have them TERRIBLY too. It is when my "RSD Tourette's" comes out. It literally FORCES you to stop in your tracks. I used to take Cymbalta and it seemed to help. I'm paying dearly for having gone off of them. Tell me......what med can make you lose 5 pounds in a week???? I want some of that!!! I hope this finds you feeling better than yesterday!!!!!!

Hi Mom,

I'm actually on two. Metformin and then my new gastro put me on Metoclopramide. It speeds up my metabolism. It is helping me. I have to take it 4 times a day though and sometimes I forget.

I have Metabolic Syndrome and Motility related dyspepsia and he also thinks scar tissue is interferring with my intestines. No blockage yet and they won't touch it until something major happens.

I believe the Lyrica messed my stomach up.

Hi Ada, and everyone. I had the electric shocks nightly, sound asleep, going right thru my brain and violent enough to raise my head right off the pillow. Also, had the jerks, shocks, spasms in the legs, arms will laying back watching tv. You are right, Mike, it was always while just going to bed, sleeping, or laying on the couch stretched out. My Dr. raised my Neurotin gradually to 3200 mg. till they stopped. Stayed on that for about 4 years, and then switched to Lyrica 400 mg. The still stayed away. I went off the anti-seisure drug last October and they haven't come back. I gained a lot of weight, Have lost 30 lbs now and feel better off the drugs. I have only had one bad full body electrical shock since last October and that was acouple weeks ago, when I called aclose friends in Oregon to ask about her daughter having her first baby. The Baby Girl died less than a week before due date. She was 27 and baby was perfect, but cord was wrapped around neck, and she died. She went to hospital and they induced delivery. I was terribly upset,is why I think I had the electric jolt. I remember holding her about 5-6 hrs. while her Mom, my friend was recovering.
Anyway, I know that's what stopped my shocks jerks and electrical shocks. I was really surprised when they didn't come back. But, It's my feelings that my RSD has calmed down due to this Dr. I've been going to for 4-5 years. He is a psychiatrist, neurologist, and pharmacologist. He got me on the right meds and therapy helped me get thru the deep grieving I just couldn't get thru. I believe one drug that has calmed my sympathetic nervous system down is Lorazepm 2 mg. 3xday. And I feel swimming has helped me keep mobile, I know he saved my toes-they were curling up and he had me doing exercise in the pool untll they came back down and touched the floor again. Had a delay in diagnosis and lost time, so have a hand that is badly crippled. Anyway, I know we are all different, but that is what helped me with the shocks and I think I've learned a lot of coping skills thru you guys and girls! Thanks and a calmer more adjusted me is more relaxed and accepting of where I'm at. I'm just grateful for so much in my life, just don't know another reason why they have stopped. The pain sure hasn't, In fact, The vicodin isn't working any more. I think that's why thenights and mornings are so bad. Just wear myself out trying to get to sleep. I'm sure glad to be off those two drugs and I also got off two double dosed anti-depressants and am just on Cymbalta. Now, I'm hoping to get off at least one of my blood pressure meds with another 30 lbs of weight loss. Dr. thinks I can too. I'm on two double dosed bp meds now. Take care, and thank you all for your support and kindness. loretta

Hi Mom, It's so good to see you tonight.I'll PM you soon. I get my new laptop this weekend. I'm so sorry you have those terrible shocks. The meds really make us pay in one way or another. I'm so glad I'm off of Neurotinand Lyrica. I hated the weight gain. The first 30 is off and now starting on my second 30. Ill start swimming in a week and that should help get it off by end of summer. I went to a 'hormone' Dr. specializing in compouding hormones and will let you know what they find out. My health insurance raised to $700 a month from $200 for just me. My husband is on medicare. I, like you, don't qualify forSSD. I'm training two new women for our coffee business tomorrow. They are experienced cold callers. I'll PM you tomorrow, it's midnight and I'm going to try and go to sleep. I posted on the sleep question by 'Aint So BAD but, it's pretty awful to lay in bed for hours and hours and not be able to get to sleep every single night. Take care, loretta

Hi Loretta,

I have the jerks, shocks and spasms also. They are all maddening. I won't take Neurotin or Lyrica for it though. I gained 17 lbs on Lyrica and I believe it's what caused my system to start shutting down over a year ago. Just now getting it back to working better.

painwise, I am much better. I do deal with the pelvic pain and the right side pain and the TOS but not so much the RSD. I wouldn't deal with the TOS so much if I'd quit doing so much.

I'm very sorry to here what you and your friends went through with losing the baby. I had an etopic pregnancy years ago and it through me into depression after that.

My friends daughter just had a baby boy. We had a baby shower, 3 ultrasounds said a girl and she had a boy. I gave her this cutest 4 piece checked outfit and everyone said it would be perfect for pictures. I told Janissa that I still wanted a picture of that baby in that little dress outfit.
Hopefully your friend can have more kids.

Coffee business, huh, I bet you have trouble giving up caffine. I'm hooked on French Vanilla.

Glad you're back with us.

Ada
