ketamine infusion #2

Well everything went well, i checked in at 6 and had my IV in by 630, had 4 of versed in me 15 min later and well.. everything after that till about midnight is a blur... my doc was going over how much i was given last time and said he'd give me more, maybe it'd go as far as 2 grams (2000mg)- which would be double from the previous infusion. but he wasn't sure if we'd go that far.... well apparently we did, and went further. i set a record at 2200mg of ketamine. this time i did, i'd sure hope so, reach the "knock out" stage. it was a little difficult i guess to wake me up but i did eventually. haha and i guess apparently according to my mom the first thing i asked was if there were any hot doctors lol. so i was pretty out of it till about mid night... kept repeating things i'd already said... needed help walking and such.... but around midnight i was ok pretty much to walk on my own.. i did have some hallucinating... it was like a radio was in my head.. i'd hear a song and then it'd go static and to another song... drove me nuts. but other than that so far so good!

can i ask? is there any pain? how are you feeling? i had my ketmine friday not as long as your was... but i am not happy with the result. did you get anastesia (spell?) before they did the ketamine?

i am so glad everything went well for you and hope that it will continue.take care michelle

I'm puzzled about something.

Normally the protocol for low dose ketamine (see RSDHope) is that they use as much of the Ketamine just to make the patient a little drowsy... certainly NO more.

I've never heard of them upping the Ketamine like that.
Is that standard protocol or has something been changed lately that I don't know about?

Hi,

I'm glad it is working for you. Sounds like you got enough to last a lifetime.

Here you are drugged up and looking for hot Drs. LOL I've yet to see on in the 100+ I've seen.

Had a good looking cop at my door last week. I'd left my back car door open and he stopped to make sure there wasn't anything wrong. He was cute girl.

Hope this works for you and continues to work for sometime.

Ada

pain is gone. i'm feeling good, still having some of the side effects but i'm dealing with those as they come about. before they started the infusion they sedated me with versed.

I'm not sure dr. lerveronce considers this a low dose. He puts his patients into a state of being asleep. past being drowsy. but not to the point where u need to be on a breathing tube. my first go around because i had been taking ketamine for over 2 years already on a daily basis for reg pain control, i had built up a tolerance to the dosage he gae me then was what normally put his patients to sleep. however i was still in and out of being awake and able to respond to questions. so he increased the dosage this time around so that i would be at the state of sedation/being a sleep.

I am still having mild hallucinations at night, and am being emo, and am unease/anxious at times but i can control that quite easily with the ativan i got.

i'm taking 40mg of k twice a day and ativan at night, and if i feel i need it during the day.

I am so happy for you.

I think I remember that you told us your first round was not covered by insurance. Were you able to get the 2nd round covered? Or did you have to pay for the infusion and related expenses yourself?

I hope that you remain painfree forever (or at least a really long time...)

Sandy

I get it now, thanks for explaining it to me, Andrea. I hope you stay pain free for a long time!
