Sweating thing...

I know the sweating thing has been brought up many times but i have a question has anyone found away to hide this from others.. For instance i was wearing white dress paints today and i sweated through the things and it was rather embarrassing... I dont even want to go out in public because of the sweating... Its so embarrassing... :eek:if anyone has any suggestions on how to hide this embarrassing part of our condtions i am open to it...:o

Thanks Jacquelina

I don't have the sweating issue as of now and am not comparing my moms problem but thought it may help with direction of what could help. I know my mom who does not have RSD but I am thinking it was from menapause used to sweat under arms where it would leave marks and she found these shields at a langerie store so I wonder if they have similar for other body areas if you find parts sweat more then others. Also what about different materials or weights. I know for me on my legs where my RSD I can only tolerate certain textures and weight to it. I go around feeling all the items in the store to see if it is even a possible.

There's a clothing maker called "Patagonia". (California)

patagonia.com

They make something called "Capeline" (sp) undergarments.
Check them out!
They're now actually made from recycled soda (plastic) bottles.

This guy, wears NO COTTON on me torso!
T shirts are too loose, they absorb perspiration, and then you get a chill, which starts the perspiration cycle all over and over and ....

Capilene is different.
It's Plastic.
Yea, plastic t shirts, cool huh?
Any perspiration is "wicked" away!
They are super comfortable, and come in at least four different weights. From silk, to HD.
These have been my life savers since the early 80's!

(Now, Jockey, and some others you might find at Macy's, etc. are making nylon or plastic too),
But, what you pay Patagonia for, is a garment that will last at least 10X longer than ANY cotton garment!
That's a bargain.
They fit tight. No "Air" gets in and through to start the "chill" again.

I just cannot say enough about these garments.

If I had to give up everything, except one, Patagonia Capilene, would be the LAST thing I gave up!
Comfort wise,
and,
my middle name used to be
Captain Comfort.
Now,
It's Colonel Comfort!
Hah!

I''ve even bought Patagonia "jackets and such, not underwear" on eBay!
Yep.

It ALWAYS get stolen from me too!
Dam!
That and my favorite Outlaws CD's!

Oh well, I hope someone is enjoying it all....

Seriously now.
Check it out for yourself.
They have all weights of t shirts and heavy undershirts for super cold weather.
Breifs.
Socks.

And, their entire catalogue is full of "cool" stuff.
I used ta be able to just buy whatever I wanted.
Then, someone started giving my cool "patagonia" stuff away to her kids.....
Oh well,
Not going there now!

This is truly good stuff folks.
Try one on!

sweating

Where is your rsd is that why you sweat or is it the meds. I took a lot that made me almost have hot flashes! If it is the meds it might be time for a change, if it is the rsd I don't have many suggestions except to wear light weight clothes and maybe carry one of those hand held fans to sneak of to the bathroom and dry out a bit. I had to get up 3 times during a breakfast with my brother once because my meds made me sweat and go use cool water and dry off. Hope you do better soon!
positive thoughts your way!

I'm a fan of using a handheld fan. I'm too far beyond to get embarassed by what I need to do. So I carry a small fan my sister brought me back from China in my pocketbook and take it out when the flushes start at work; also bring a small lightweight down comforter to meetings and wrap my leg to keep it warm otherwise keep it in my office for my leg. I think if you can keep your head cool, the flushes don't seem to get out of control. I'm just put out because I stopped having hot flashes long before my accident, but then they came back with a vengence. Natural fabrics like cotton dry quicker and don't hold in the heat like synthetics. You've go my empathy and sorry I don't have a miracle cure.

I'm trying to Take Notice, of what Starts a Cold Sweat or, flash, or just a sweat?

I noticed yesterday, a friend came over, and in less than 5 minutes, I broke into a sweat.
Did I get a little jolt of adrenaline? (Maybe, just happy to see a friend?)

Spring time in the "Mud Atlantic" is atrocious.
Rain, Rain, Clouds... HUMIDITY!
The sun came out for a few moments these past couple days.

My A/C is running, with a ceiling fan.. too much draft. I can't keep them low enough.

As the profession I was in, I expanded the house I bought, and put in a new Central air system, just slightly "undersized", what that means, is that it "works hard" (but costs less), and works more on dehumidification, than just "blowing ice cold air".
Also, all of the vents are placed "strategically", so that no 'draft' will hit me, where I sit, or sleep (if I sleep)... Hah!

Then, a nice whirlpool bath.
I used to heat myself up in the AM, (wintertime), and cool down slowly. That was before I had this sweat issue. And, I never had it really until my second accident, which caused my TBI. But, I guess it really "ramped up" my rsd, too.
Sorry for rambling on....

My pain reminds me, I"m alive...
