60,000 mg of vit C, how come !?

Hello,

I have a question....

I ran out of my vit C and was going to take one of the multivitamin capsules my dad takes... I started to read the contains to find if those had vitamin C and of course they did, it was the first one and I read:

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) 60,000 mg per capsule...

How come !? I mean, is that possible ? is that healthy ? As far as I knew, the maximun dosage recommended for vit C per day was 1,000 mg (1 g) and those pills have 60 g !!!?????

What the hell did I misunderstand 1?

are you sure it isn't 60,000 % of RDA?

Can you put up the name of the supplement?

60,000mg = 60grams
One cannot get 60 grams in a capsule.
60 grams = 2 ounces

They are called Kirkland signature... My dad bought them at costco...

Im re-checking, and it says 60.000 mg of vitamin C per capsule... What is that ? Does that mean 60 mg ? Or... I dont see the point of putting 3 zeros after the 60...

They also say 6.000 mcg of vitamin B12...

So, Im guessing they are using . instead of , ?

So, they have only 60 mg of vit C ?

That's better. 60mg
Both of those doses are the RDA for each.
That is low for Vit C...many multivits have 100mg for C.

I can't imagine why the label is made that way.
Do all of the ingredients have that decimal point in them?

BlueMajo 05-18-2009 01:05 AM

Yep, that decimal point is weird isnt it ? I think they want to confuse people...

I just told dad that he should try a different brand... That one looks low in everything ! And weird description...

My stress tabs had 600 mg of vit C...

Mrs D or anyone I have been taking 500mg of vitamin c and my pain doc suggested it for rsd pain. What does viatmin c do for this or it just helps in repair or recovery?

BlueMajo 05-18-2009 04:56 PM

I know it is an anti-oxidant, is good repairing tissues and helps the immune system...

I bet MrsD knows more than me :D

Thanks I think you are right and what I have heard too. When I feel it I will believe it. I have tried so many supplements and if they are working I hate to feel how I would be if not on them.

Vit C is involved with the Kreb's cycle for the mitochondria.

Also it is important for collagen and soft tissue repair.

I don't know of a specific for RSD however.

My MD always tells me to get that ester C stuff. He said he prefers it.
