Hi there!

Well I had an aortic anurysm which I had successfully repaired last September. Aortic anurysms are actually quite common and there are many surgeons who are very capable of carrying out successful repairs.

Aortic anurysms can be caused by a variety of different conditions. Mine was caused my my connective tissue disorder called Loeys-Dietz Syndrome. more information on this can be found at www . loeysdietz . com. Another site that might be of interest is www . marfan . org

If his anurysm is caught early enough and monitored / repaired, there is little reason why it should have an adverse affect on his life. It might also be an idea to get your own heart checked out and that of any siblings. An ECHO is sufficient initially to decipher if there is any enlargement of the aorta.

Hope this helps some. Please PM me if you'd like further info or support.

Best of luck
Rachel
