This pain is awful. My first time.

I have never experienced such awful pain in my life. I hurt so bad. Fingers toes arms legs I can't name enough. I've been taking Vicodin as often as the doctor has prescribed it for me. Until I get a handle on this one.

My real problems have always been in in other areas. With a lot of CNS involvememt.

I'm going to be reasearching all the information I can on Fibro and looking for what has helped othersl This has been awful. & painful.

Just a Heya and I remember some of you.

((((((Star)))))),

Just wanted to welcome you to NeuroTalk http://deephousepage.com/smilies/wavey.gif

I've had fibro since early 1990s. I think mine was caused by a chemical spill at work (the junk that's inside air conditioners spilled right next to my desk).

Of all the different 'things' that I've tried, Duloxetine (Cymbalta) or Effexor XR have been the most effective.

SLEEPING has to be at the TOP of your list -- even before eating. Lack of sleep sets one with fibro into a huge downward spiral.

I used to take Prozac -- that was like filing down the point on a needle -- took the 'sharpness' of the pain away. I was able to work full-time with Prozac. Cymbalta and Effexor XR just about totally eliminate the pain -- as long as I pay attention to my sleep and rest when I need to. I've had to stop working -- adding pain from spinal arthritis to the mix was just more than I could cope/function with.

Glad you found your way here -- although I'm sorry that you had to.

I personally think that people with fibromyalgia and with chronic fatigue syndrome are like the parakeets in the mineshaft -- we're an early warning system that 'things' are not right with our planet. Well ... that's a whole 'nother soapbox :o

Hugs. And welcome.

Barb

Hi and welcome. I know exactly how you must be feeling. You are taking your meds correctly but the pain is still unbearable. That is how it started out with me too.
You are right. The best thing to do is find out all you can about FM. I highly recommend you start with this book Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain: A Survival Manual by Devin Starlanyl. It is what I call the FM Bible and is great in describing bit by bit things that you need to know.
I hope you feel better soon.

:sorry: Hi Star, welcome.

I completely understand as well. My very first flare was misdiagnosed as a 'virus'. They said I just had gotten a strange virus that spread throughout my entire system. Because, there wasn't a spot on me, below my neck, that didn't hurt. Horrible pain.

I was given Vicodin by my doctor for the pain. Told me to rest, etc, ride it out. I was back inside a month, exhausted from living with the pain. I'd go home from work and wrap myself in hot blankets from the dryer.

Inside a month, I was back. Ended up back at rheumy doctor and he diagnosed the fibro. They gave me Percodan, and it was the only pain medicine that got me through that first huge appearance of the fibro. Vicodin didn't touch the pain.

Sorry you are part of this group! It's an annoying and often painful health problem. :sorry:
