What I like about my job
 

I work in the home based care department of a local Veterans' hospital. As a result I get to go out and treat our men and women in their homes.

I am so grateful I get to spend my day paying tribute to the men and women who gave up so much for the freedom of so many people. I am glad I get our of the office for some of the day and get to drive in the beautiful coutryside. And, I love getting to meet my patients' pets. Today I got to pet 3 dogs and 2 cats. And they call this work.

Good for you for working to make our veterans' lives nicer. I think that's awesome. I work with the mentally ill, and I get the same feeling on most days--that I can't believe I get paid for it. My father always says that nobody ever loves a job, so you might as well take the highest paying one and be miserable. What a terrible attitude! I took a big paycut to work at my job--its been a year now--and the happiness & satisfaction are well worth the extra money! I feel so sorry for my dad for believing that. He makes a lot of money, but he's absolutely miserable all the time, and he certainly isn't enjoying his money.

I'm sure you have days at work that make you very sad, like I do, but I feel like helping others, even in a small way, makes me feel better, physically and mentally.

I wish we could do more for our veterans. The crowd at the Memorial Day ceremony I go to every year was so small this year. Kudos to you!!

Some people though, are just not wired like that. They can't be happy unless they're miserable, lol. Sorry for your dad, April.

My dh found one too - not doing something like that, but he's out in nature on his bridge feeding birds and watching manatees between boats and trains. Just as well, he's better with animals than people.

My fave job was selling carpet, oddly enough. I got to talk to new people every day and shop with them, spending their money and helping them decorate. I had my own desk, chair and phone, and got to sit down for lunch. What's not to love?

Had some great co-workers there too.
