PCS and riding bike

I have PCS and I can't drive right now because of a seizure disorder, so I have been biking to work when the weather permits. Last week, I hit a pothole (didn't fall off bike) and I was wearing a helmet. When I got home, I noticed that I had a headache. The pain got worse as the night went on. The next day I had to stay home from work because the headache was so severe. Today was the first day back on my bike and my head is hurting again. I am getting tired of walking everywhere so thought I would try it again. Now I'm thinking biking isn't the answer. Any other people suffering from PCS and enjoy bike riding?

Oh My! I would never ever think about getting on a bike or even a trike! I used to ride bikes and enjoyed but I would not risk it now.

If I were you, I'd discuss this with my doctor before getting back on the bike. You don't want to hit your head again, as it could make things a lot worse for you....

As I said, I'm not expert, but I would certainly be discussing what you should/should not be doing i.e. riding bikes, playing ball etc. with your doctor before attempting.

Do you really have to give up the things you love to do? I also love running which I am finding a little challenging also. How do you help the depression if you can't do the things you love?

Bike riding

Your headache could be from the exertion. A headache that lasts for a day or longer should be checked, especially for someone with a history of seizure and PCS.

Do you have access to a medical advice nurse or PA that you can consult by phone?

I had a concussion 3.5 years ago and have been diagnosed with Mild TBI. I tried for the first couple of years to 'get over it' and get back to my life as I knew it. I continued to do as I had done the day before I fell....only to realize that my life had changed.

After a couple of years I've adjusted my life and I don't have the life I had before TBI but I have a new life. I loved crowds, people, dancing, music, concerts the bigger the better.....now I love quiet, calm, peaceful. I don't do crowds, concerts etc any longer. It was too hard on me, made my symptons worse and harder to get back to line zero.

Life is constantly changing, things that you loved to do at one point in your life, as your life changes so do the things that you enjoy....

Just my thoughts on how I handle my situation. We as individuals, have to figure out our own path of what we want. I want to be able to function in a somewhat normal life, so therefore I choose to not subject myself to things that can harm my somewhat normal life.
