Has anyone had any success with it? I gave it a run, tried it for a week or so, and it seemed to have some effect, making the pain more distant, it seemed, but it really spaced me out. I used an indica, which kinda makes one dumber than usual, so it was not really the best test. A straight sativa would be better for the mind, but I haven't been in 'the game' for years, and hadn't any way to pick and choose. As I haven't a job here soon, being **** tested won't be much of a concern, and I wondered if anyone had pain relief?

An aside; Like any med, the costs must be weighed against the potential gain. Even if effective, I would not recommend it for someone in school (short term memory is always affected to some degree, sometimes massively) or to an airline pilot/bus driver/etc.(legal/attention problems) So if you're a 14 year old girl, probly not the best idea. (was that too pointed a hint? lol) My apologies if I offended anyone's sensibilities.

Works for Jim who has ms. We're in Illnois and have been fighting for it to be legal. It passed the Senate and now we're waiting on the House.

It helped me alot-really diminished the burning pain in my skin and the bone pain. However, since back at work, not an option.

I heard (Dutch documentary) that it helps MS patients. Should it ever become legal, I might consider it. But not until then, no way.

after i found out what i had and was 16 and was very acessible to me i did it and it helped alot.. its not llegal here and lot of drs look down on it so havent done it of late. but yes it helped enough so that i really didnt think about it.. and i did it alot ;) is cheaper than meds by a mile

I guess I expected to be set on fire and sent to hell for even suggesting using it, comes as a great shock that I wasn't. Once I'm underemployed, perhaps I'll give it another go. Amusing to me that the medical establishment has no problem handing out meds with hateful side effects as long as they get a cut of the profit, but God forbid they ok using a benign substance with no OD potential and only minimal side effects. Perhaps if the pharmaceutical industry were the only ones allowed to produce legal pot for sale in pharmacies things would be copacetic. God Bless the docs out there who put concern for their patients at the top of their list of priorities, as it should be, as opposed to pushing drugs they have to know are unsafe for profit. Not to be on a rant, but when there are perfectly safe painkillers available, why the hell use people as test subjects for off label uses of very dangerous drugs? I had three docs write me scripts for neurontin. Have you ever looked up all the flat out dangerous side effects of that med? I understand it is a godsend to some folks, and that's fine. As it stands right now though, there is debate as to whether it has any effect at all for nerve pain. You can't tell me that billions were spent on development of that stuff and they don't know whether it passes into breast milk, how it really works, etc. As I understand it, they created fast track for meds in response to the AIDS crisis, and rightly so. Yer dying of something, you've got to give anything a try. It has gone well beyond that, over a hundred thousand Americans die every year from legally prescribed meds, taken right. That's insane. And when I see folks tell me how evil weed is, how it'll ruin 'the children' and 'traditional family values', I could puke at their hypocrisy. People are needlessly DYING for fun and profit, and they just don't care enough about them to research their deeply held 'beliefs'. Read The Book again, show me where Jesus said it was cool to put manna over man, profits over people. Enough. I've said my piece. Later all. Smoke.

Hi. Although I live in California, my p.m. doc prefers to prescribe Marinol (dronabinol), which is synthetic version of a naturally occuring form of THC: delta-9 THC to be specific. The principle difference from the grass of my youth is that it takes about 45 minutes to come on, and then lasts for a much longer period of time. I find that it's particularly effective when the spasms get out of control, 50 mg. a day of Baclofen notwithstanding. Then too I have to (but rarely do) keep myself off email when I'm on it, because I invariably make a fool of myself, usually before far too many recipients. And for just that reason can't take it as an everyday analgesic, reserving it for the worst days, and then it's "check please."

That said, I have a good friend who lives in San Francisco who is both physically incapacitated and has incredibly severe neuropathic pain throughout her body - although not RSD her pain levels can be as high as anyone I've met - and she finds that really good pot (and in S.F. the medical dispensaries get the best) works better than Dilaudid!

But for people who don't live in a region where medical marijuana is available, the take home point may be that Marinol is, at least in the U.S. and Canada.

Colorado has the same law as California. You can grow 3 plants for medicinal purposes but if you get caught by the Feds then you lose your home and all.

I was given a application to fill out by my MS Dr. and it was to be sent into the state with 110. for the license to grow it. I chose not too.

Here you can get it pretty easy. I tried it and basically had the same reaction that Smoke had. Spaced out. That's one way of not feeling any pain. LOL

I have mixed feelings about it. I have Grandkids that I didn't want to think it was ok to smoke it.

I'm from the old school. If it's working for people that have medical issues then I think it should be ok for them but not open it up as a legal crop for all to raise.
